I have to admit - I don't understand some of the antipathy toward mini-vans. Yeah, there's the soccer mom image with all the yard apes stuffed in the back raisin' hell, but Mrs E and I are waaaaaaaay too old for yard apes 'n such. Yet this is a vehicle that, for me, is much more practical than a pickup truck.

Even 2WD is just fine where we live (north-central Missouri). The enclosed cargo area will handle 10-foot sections of stuff and the seats come out when you absolutely must have that extra room.

It rides nice (we also have a 2004 Sienna with over 150K on it, with much more to go before it dies), it gets great mileage (about 27 on the highway at 70 mph, and 22 in the city), but with a V6, it has balls enough to get up to speed quickly.

I'm in my mid-fifties, no kids, but I wouldn't trade my mini-van for the most ballsy Ford 250 dually made. I rehearse and perform on 3 low brass instruments on a regular basis, and putting those very expensive musical instruments in a truck, even with a cap, is simply not an option. Thievery still happens on a regular basis and I intend to keep that from happening to me.

My husband has an Infinti G37 (coupe), he had Ford F-150's up until he bought the Infiniti. He is going back to Ford, he is getting a Ford Raptor. My step dad works for a Ford dealership and can get special pricing. He is going to get it in the next few months. We checked them out the other weekend, it is so nice on the inside. We want to start camping and my husband wants to get 4 wheelers so he is getting a truck again. He never seemed to fit the G37, he has always been a truck kind of guy.

That is an amazing truck, I'm sure he'll love it!

Don't even THINK about a Toyota truck or SUV.

+1, Toyota has had some horrendous disasters with their trucks.

Our price range is under 30 grand. Or at least that is where I'd like to keep it. 35-40 grand is higher than I am willing to go.

I've actually been seeing Nissan Murano's advertised as leasing for only $199/month.  A pretty good deal IMHO, and of the auto's you initially listed, it'd be my choice.

Quite honestly though, if you're looking at spending upwards of 30 grand, I'd really take a good look at the new Jeep Cherokee.  That thing is absolutely amazing IMHO.
