Anyone going to actually watch the American version of Top Gear?

I mean, yeah, Tanner Foust will be one of the guys on the show.  He is probably the only reason why I will even bother watching the American version since I like Battle of the Super Cars.

But Adam Ferrara.  Really?  He's an actor/comedian.  Not really a car enthusiast.  Then the third guy will be Rutledge Wood, an automotive/racing analyst. 

It would be nice if this show will replace Adam Ferrara with someone else.

I'll give the guy a chance, but I think he will kill the show.  I don't need a funny man driving a car.

I wonder who the The Stig will be in the American version?

Maybe.  I wasn't very impressed with what I saw on YouTube.  I was really hoping Adam Carolla would be on the show because he's actually funny.

Meh.  It was okay.  Not good, not great, but it wasn't awful.  The Buzz Aldrin interview (and subsequent track laps) were honestly the most boring thing I've seen on any TG program.  This guy is what, pushing 90?  Tanner Foust?  Dull as dishwater.  Adam Ferrara?  Stop laughing at your own jokes.  It's not cute.  Rutledge Wood seems to be the only one on the show with a personality so far.  Other than the Dodge Viper segment being a complete rip-off of the original AC Cobra (I suspect we'll be seeing a lot of this), it was okay.  The Lamborghini segment was okay.  I kinda laughed when Wood started ragging on Foust for coming in a whole one-mile-per-hour slower than him. 

I've heard the series gets better in the later episodes.  I'm looking forward to watching the Thunderbloat crash around a dirt course even though I've already watched it on YouTube, and they repeat the cheap-cars-filled-with-water stunt with at least one old Buick.  Should be fun.

2-1/2 stars out of five.  Maybe next week's will at least be a 3.

I did not like it as much as the original Top Gear. If it doesn't improve I will not watch it anymore.

I didn't think it was bad but I didn't think it was good either.  I was flipping over to 'Avatar' during the commercials (ghey, but the action was cool).

I watched it.  It wasn't the British Top Gear but I'll watch it a few more times to see if it gets better.

My thoughts on episode 2:

The Mitsubishi Evo segment is okay, mostly because it's a good car that doesn't get a lot of love.  The snowboarding race had potential but I really wish they would come up with their own ideas.  Was it just me or do these guys just seem really unintereted in doing their job?  And Adam Ferrara gets paid to read cue cards.  Yawn.  These guys seem flat to me.  At least the guy with the beard pronounced 'Porsche' correctly.

It would be nice if History offered HD video on their website, but it doesn't look like it.

The Vantage segment was good, but these guys all sound like they're reading their book reports in front of the class.  Where is Jay Leno when you need him? 

Score one for Adam Ferrara and the Z... "drifting is a bunch of guys in imported cars sliding around like morons."  The blind guy was great.

I'm not going to lament like I saw some Facebook losers doing last night.  Frankly, they disgusted me.  "Waaah!  I'm ashamed to be an American!"  I wanted to kick those people in the ass and tell them to pack a ****ing bag if it was so bad.  But this show could be better.

Even though Plaid Shirt pronounced 'Porsche' correctly, one of those DB's mispronounced Nevada.  I believe it was Tanner.  It was during the snowboarding race, if I recall correctly.  It annoyed me and I tuned the show out until the blind guy was driving the 370Z.  Only because I love the 370Z.

And I agree, they all seem very bored with the show.  Top Gear America would be MUCH better with a whole new cast.  The interviews are really boring so far too.  They don't even know how to interview.  And they seem uninterested in their guests.

I still don't know how to pronounce Nevada.  Is it a hard 'a' or a soft one?

Reminds me of Michael J. Fox's ad for Claire McCaskill... someone must have told him how the locals like to hear "Missourah" pronounced.

I don't think Buzz Aldrin and Merry Brandybuck made very good guests.  'Lost' has been off the air for almost a year (I think), and as interesting as Buzz Aldrin's career has been, he was a poor choice.

Who ARE these people??

I can accept a certain amount of 'product placement', but this guy from (I guess) an ABC drama/sitcom that I haven't heard a peep about since April is the "star" on the track segment?  What's the matter, you couldn't get the janitor from 'Scrubs'??   And WHAT a boring ****ing track.  More straight lines than an anorexic college freshman.  Give me some meat and curves I can sink my hands in to.

The moonshiner challenge was pretty good, but I don't think I've seen a TG episode with so little content that they had to split the challenge into two separate segments.  I'm glad to see a 300ZX get beat on.  Yeah, I don't like you Mr. Z31.  I was a hair's breadth away from judging it "very good" until I noticed they split it up into separate segments and interrupted it with commercials and some boring stick in the mud interview.  Fine, you like VW's.  That's great.  I'm glad you can afford to drive one.  Good for you.

A Ford Mustang!  That's great.  Only if you didn't sound like a bunch of people who had just met and were trying to make conversation by reciting somewhat-useful trivia you had learned from using Google.  Adam Ferara is starting to get on my nerves.  Why is he the main announcer?  He's not very good at it and his Noo Yawk accent is starting to get on my nerves.  The choice of a Cadillac Bloat de Ville was entertaining.  You get a gold star.

2.5 stars.  Still waiting on a 3-star show.  At least I laughed this time.

I'm 11 minutes in on the episode with the moonshiners at History.com, and I haven't laughed once.  The jokes seem forced, and the segue music sounds like something you'd hear on a cheap beer commercial.

The Rutledge guy is my most favorite, of three I don't like.  Whoever is writing the show, as it relates to the actual skits about the cars is doing a good job.  With the right people, it would probably be ok, the fact is, these dudes just suck.  I think Jay Leno would have been a good dude to be the "Jeremy"  I would have liked to see that.

The Raptor/HALO jump was amazing, but these writers absolutely suck.  Travis Pastrana is a lousy host.  The SLS AMG is so hawt, not even Adam Ferrara could **** one up.  But he tried really hard.

They found a way to make this show worse... they invited Kid Rock.  Not even going to watch the last half of the show.

Paintballs and used cars.  It's not looking good for TG:US.

You know, that is wierd.  I thought that last night's show seemed a lot less stilted.  The writers are doing fine, it is the delivery that sucks.  And as it relates to the guests, they finally had one who knew about cars.  KR's opinion on Prius-s was PRICELESS.  It still lacks a lot, but after last night, I'll give it a few more chances.
