As I read this it sounds to me like a pure and simple robbery the kind one finds in sleezy bars.   

I do not know how this comes to gay bashing as the victim was in a gay bar and how would he know the attackers were not themselves gay?

Please don't tell me gays will not pray on other gays, or blacks do not pray on other blacks and no white man will jump another white man.

Color me confused as if a couple of gays target another gay to assult, is this gay bashing or just a robbery gone wrong.?

Could be either. Sounds to me like it was both a robbery and gay bashing.   The attackers may have chosen a gay bar because they thought the folks in the gay bar would have money and be an easy mark.  The stereotype would be that a gay guy wouldn't fight back.
