Leftists will tell you religion is the opiate of the masses used to hold sway over the ignorant and fearful with images of damnation if they fail to fall in line with their political masters.
As such, politicians who call on religious imagery are the lowest of the law because they are exploiting that fearfulness for temporal power.
And yet, here is a president that doesn't go to church and while he did attend and tithe at Rev Wright's church for 22 years it must be admitted that was mostly just to build street cred in Chicago's political scene.
No one should make any accusation that Obama is religious, not even muslim.
EVIDENCE: the absolute lack of caterwauling at DU that would normally accompany such declarations by a Palin or Bachmann or Santorum.
Leftists abhor religion...except when they are the ones exploiting it.
