    While we don’t want our kids to try marijuana, if they do later on it can lead to very harsh consequences if they are caught, even for actions that are not harmful to others. And this next part is really scary: when a person is convicted of a marijuana offense, he or she is precluded from receiving federal student loans, will forever have a drug record that diminishes job prospects, and is precluded from many other benefits, not to mention being arrested, possibly serving time, and other harsh and harrowing outcomes. We don’t prevent even violent criminals from getting student loans. Or underage drinkers, for that matter. I don’t want people to have their lives derailed for a youthful indiscretion. Do you?

    Well, if we want to have a "purity test" that somehow keeps the lower classes out of higher education while allowing the upper classes to buy their way out of charges......I'm not sure legalization would be the best thing.

...or you could just raise your kids right so they don't hang around potheads and so that they don't believe in escapism via recreational drug use.

Does anyone know if this is true?  Because I smell  :bs:

I can understand that these things might be true if you were caught with a FELONY amount of pot.  But not for a misdemeanor.

In S.C. back in the 60's one could get 15 years in prison for one joint....then the judges, lawyers and doctors kids started smoking the shit....well, we can't have the offspring of the pillars of the community in prison....it's now a $100 fine for under an oz..

There sure wasn't much dope in S.C. back in the 60's..... :rotf:

has to be for felony, intent to deliver! It's total..........



If you have a felony on your record, you are not eligible, period! Doesn't matter what the crime was! So this guy is so full of shit his eyes are brown!

I hear tale that the sentences are harsh for heroine and crack cocaine.  Just in case the little tyke trie....er..ah..experiments with them that should be reason for parents to support legalizing those drugs.

Having said that smart ass remark.. Pot being classified with the above drugs is not kosher.
