Oh, this is hilarious.  Some versions of the anti-school reform book by Diane Ravitch apparently had a printing problem and are being temporarily held from sale at Amazon.  But DU is OUTRAGED, I TELL YA, OUTRAGED!!!!!!!  This is CONSPIRACY!!!!!!

A couple of fellow primitives are trying to talk sense into them, including one with publishing experience.  They are having none of it.

Amazon halts selling of Ravitch's book about school reform.    
   
It has been selling quite well so this is a really suspicious move. I hate to say it makes me wonder considering the heavy emphasis on all the NBC affiliates about the new "reform" movement.

Here is what it says at the Amazon page:

The Large Print edition is fine,

The Kindle and Kindle for PC editions*** are fine,

And over 20 marketplace sellers are carrying it.

Only one version is having trouble, and that happens from time to time when a book is popular.

Not everything is a conspiracy....

The publisher can tell her mass for all I care. THERE IS A PROBLEM with the print run,. they got a complaint from a customer, most likely a returned bad copy... they are following SOP...

The end seller is doing exactly what they need to do... sorry.

It’s Official: Pentagon Destroys All First Run Copies of “Operation Dark Heart”

Waiting for all the sanctimonious libturds who sniffed “This is America.  We don’t burn books” during the recent Koran Barbecue to protest this move.  /sarc.

In the meantime, a second, heavily redacted print run has been ordered.  It’s also important to note that Army Reserve brass had given the project the greenlight before publication.

(CNN) — The Department of Defense recently purchased and destroyed thousands of copies of an Army Reserve officer’s memoir in an effort to safeguard state secrets, a spokeswoman said Saturday.

“DoD decided to purchase copies of the first printing because they contained information which could cause damage to national security,” Pentagon spokeswoman Lt. Col. April Cunningham said.

In a statement to CNN, Cunningham said defense officials observed the September 20 destruction of about 9,500 copies of Army Reserve Lt. Col. Anthony Shaffer’s new memoir “Operation Dark Heart.”

Shaffer says he was notified Friday about the Pentagon’s purchase.

“The whole premise smacks of retaliation,” Shaffer told CNN on Saturday. “Someone buying 10,000 books to suppress a story in this digital age is ludicrous.”

Shaffer’s publisher, St. Martin’s Press, released a second printing of the book that it said had incorporated some changes the government had sought “while redacting other text he (Shaffer) was told was classified.”

From single words and names to entire paragraphs, blacked out lines appear throughout the book’s 299 pages.

Defense officials said they are in the process of reimbursing the publisher for the cost of the first printing and have not purchased copies of the redacted version.

At least one seller on the online auction site eBay claiming to have a first-edition printing is selling it for an asking price of nearly $2,000. The listed retail price for the second printing is $25.99.

Malarkey, this is an inside job.

I read every book from Catcher In The Rye to what ever that was banned from me just because it WAS banned.   

Books are like Pandora's Box, when they are off limits then you go nuts looking at that [box] book wondering what is inside to cause all the ballyhoo.

Most likely I would never heard of this book ----and so what if I did---I don't think even after reading it, spent money to buy the book, this would have caused me to rob a bank, have sex with 4 sailors or get caught for drunk driving.

When a Government gets their panties in a twist over a BOOK that may or not be true----instead of dieing a quick death as only 1000 copies have been sold, now we have a best seller on our hands.

Uh, censorship applies to the government only. If you don't like Amazon, there are many places to buy books.
