The company isn't taking the action because the chamber endorsed Kasich over Democratic Gov. Ted Strickland, but because it broke a 117-year tradition of not endorsing in the race, McHenry said.
In the past, Strickland has touted his relationship with AEP Chairman and Chief Executive Michael Morris, and they speak at least monthly, spokeswoman Amanda Wurst said."I talk to Mike Morris all the time," Strickland told The Dispatch editorial board Sept. 10, noting that Morris also called him unsolicited last year to offer support for Strickland's plan to fill a budget hole by delaying a planned income-tax cut.
Not a real big surprise--a lot of utilities have supported the Obama agenda of Cap-and-tax, tax breaks for alternative (wind/solar) projects, etc., because it gets them a shitload more revenue. My company is no exception.
