Hi ya'll
« on: September 24, 2010, 04:59:46 PM »
Hello from the rolling hills of Kentucky, where the horses are beautiful and the women are fast.

I've been a lurker at DU since 2004, held a "Disrupter" account for 300+ posts that year, but flamed out after the election.  I still visit nearly every day, just to get my giggles.  (C'mon, some of it has to be parody, right?  Right?)

These days I mostly read various forums, Conservative and whack-job.  Rarely post, but thought I might get back into it.

Love the format you guys have and look forward to reading and posting occasionally.

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

How do you feel about UT/KY football and basketball?  :uhsure:  I'm in Vol Country, about 20 minutes from the stadium.  :-)

Tennessee has a football team?  Wait, where's Tennessee again?  (Sometimes denial is the best recourse.)

As a kid, we had a friendly rivalry with a neighbor from TN.  Every Christmas he would decorate his house in that garish UT color.  Of course, for honor's sake, Daddy would completely cover ours with lights in that lovely shade known as Wildcat Blue (think Clark Griswold's house).  Even going so far as to spell out 'UK' on the roof.

Sometimes I think our conspicuous energy consumption was the cause of Carter's sweater-wearing "Fireside Chats".

Seriously, thanks all for the kind welcome.
