Obama: We Can Absorb Another Terroist Attack

Washington is reveling this week in one of its oldest traditions – dissecting a Bob Woodward book that analyzes the sitting president. While much focus will be given to what one senior official said about another senior official, there is real news that deserves the bulk of the attention. Specifically, President Barack Obama’s shocking statement to Woodward that “we [America] can absorb another terrorist attack.”

He goes on to say: “We’ll do everything we can to prevent it, but even a 9/11, even the biggest attack ever…we absorbed it and we are stronger.”

This statement demonstrates our Commander-in-Chief’s cavalier and frightening approach to national security, which apparently is based in the notion our country will ultimately “absorb” terrorist attacks, rather than prevent them.

I, for one, am NOT willing to "absorb" another terrorist attack. If that were to happen, you can bet that there will be hell to pay for the perpetrators and their ilk. The Japanese & German internment camps will seem mild in comparison. Imagine, some 80 MILLION pissed off gun owners....

Every time this POTUS opens his mouth, it offends me. It wouldn't matter if he yawned on camera, and didn't say a word. Chances are, my nose would wrinkle.

If there is another terror attack on the scale of 9/11 or bigger (especially on "The One's" watch) things are going to get very bad very quickly. I hate to say it, but violence will break out, and people will want blood. ESPECIALLY if Obama doesn't handle it like a President should. Like Bush did (Chances of that happening are very...very slim)

The deeper we get into this Presidency, the honest to God more scared I get.

The POTUS is taking ques from Isreal...they get hit and keep turning the other cheek.

Was this a statement on his ideals or a clandestine message designed to be leaked to some organization?

I think the first two paragraphs of the quote are from Woodward, and the third is Heritage's somewhat-spun take on it.  The first two paragraphs are correct in a literal, not-for-public-consumption kind of way reserved for candid strategy discussions. 

I take it to mean 'Yes, there will be future successful terrorist attacks, no matter how hard we try to prevent them, inevitably, but no, no such attack could actually destroy us as a nation, either.'

A strategic truism, unless we want to live in the kind of screwed-down-tight police state Saddam tried to run; still it's definitely not the kind of thing you want attributed to your mouth by the press while you're still President.

Almost sounds like dumbo is saying he wants us to get attacked again. Either that, or he's saying that there's nothing we can do to stop another attack. (If it weren't for ordinary citizens, there would have been 2 successful attacks on us, the underwear bomber and the Times Square bomber.)
