Wanna-be Jihadists caught in Canada
« on: March 27, 2008, 11:58:44 AM »
Canada's alleged homegrown terror cell the Toronto 18 have recently been described as wanna be Jihadists and maybe that is so but in a newly released videotape transcript it sure sounds like they at least meant it:

He told the group their hearts must stay with the training camp, even when they returned to their jobs, families and schools. “You go back, you're living with society and you have to put on that face, you know, that we're a bunch of peace lovers,” he said. The transcript indicates there was laughter in the tent.

He continued: “So although our bodies will be with the non-believers roaming around going to work, trying to get money, sucking up to your boss and this and that ... [But] our mission is greater. Whether we get arrested, whether we get killed, whether we get tortured, our mission is greater than just individuals.”

Then, describing North America as a fortress designed to keep out Muslims, he pointed out that his group was already inside. “Here we are. We entered your lands, we already started striking cause you know what, this training is striking at them!” (Globe and Mail)

The Toronto Star released this nugget of a wiretap transcript:

Person 3: "What happens, what happens at the Parliament?"

Person 1: "We go and kill everybody."

Person 3: "And then what?"

Informant: "And then read about it ..."

Person 1: "We get victory."

Informant: "And take, uh, Paul, um, what's his name ____. Paul loser."

Person 1: "Paul Martin."

Person 3: "Yeah."

Person 1: "Nah, I wish he had won guy."

Informant: "What you . . . what you talkin' about?"

Person 1: "Now it's the other guy, Harper."

At least we know who they will be voting for in the next federal election...

No, my friends, there’s only one really progressive idea. And that is the idea of legally limiting the power of the government. That one genuinely liberal, genuinely progressive idea — the Why in 1776, the How in 1787 — is what needs to be conserved. We need to conserve that fundamentally liberal idea. That is why we are conservatives. --Bill Whittle

OK I know this is a serious topic but that transcript made me laugh out loud.  It is scary though how people can brainwash the simpleminded.

No, I giggled too. What's really scary is how shockingly inept these guys are and yet can still manage to pull off some really nasty stuff.

Here's a sobering take on it -

That's not in the Sunni Triangle, that's in Toronto: Young Muslims who've spent virtually their entire lives in the west. Interestingly, the above guys also met with the two Georgia Tech students currently facing trial. Not sure whether they're on scholarships, but they're another stirring tribute to the soothing effect of western education on the jihadist brow:

As the film shot by the Georgia students was played in court, Ehsanul Islam Sadequee’s voice could be heard on the soundtrack: “This is where our brothers attacked the Pentagon.”

“Allahu Akbar,” responds young Ahmed. God is great.

A couple of readers have pointed out that John McCain at least has the guts to refer to "radical Muslim extremists". But "extremism" surely means views out on the fringe: Thirty-six per cent of young Muslim men favor the death penalty for apostasy. That's 36 per cent not in Yemen or Waziristan but in the United Kingdom. By definition, thirty-six per cent can't be "extremist". It's mainstream.
