Choices Have Consequences (OctoMom to Go on Welfare)

Quote
Choices have consequences.

That's what Nadya "Octomom" Suleman is finding out -- the hard way.

After gaining notoriety for going full-term with eight children, to add to the six children she already had, the unmarried Suleman is now almost completely broke, and ready to go on welfare, RadarOnline.com reports.

"She's going on welfare and it's going to be very soon," an insider told the web site. "There's just no choice. She's running out of money and those kids need to eat."

The money Octomom made selling access to her life is almost all gone, and reality TV and book deals have not panned out, the web site says.

Behind on house payments and without any real source of income, sources tell Radaronline.com that Suleman's only choice is to go on the dole.

She should have taken the offer from Vivid when it was on the table.

14 kids--yeah, I think the first person who needs to pony up (after her) is that asshole in the fertility clinic who went ahead and got her the octuplets after she already had SIX kids, most of whom already have special needs.

The state of California is going to pay upwards of $10 MILLION in medical bills ALONE for these 14 kids, to say nothing of education, food and other welfare handouts.

And people still wonder why I left that shithole of a state.

Well, the doctor DID get booted from the American Society for Reproductive Medicine, but AFAIK, he was never brought before the CA Med Licensing Board, let alone disciplined.

ETA: Correction--looks like they may actually TRY to pull it--and considering what it takes to pull a medical license in CA, that's saying something:

The fact that she had SIX kids previously via IVF should have raised more than a few red flags.

At the risk of eight MORE kids?  Besides, she strikes me as the (oh, how do I put it?) butt-ass ugly type.

She's what I've heard referred to as a two bagger.
At least she's not ugly enough a guy would gnaw his arm off to escape, right, guys?  Right? :rotf:

Absolutely, I'd even be inclined to him being left with his medical license, under the condition that he's on the hook for all financial and medical needs that these children will require.  Otherwise,  :fuelfire:

This does not surprise me at all.

It took longer to happen than expected, though.

Congratulations California!

And he has to provide all medical care for Octomom and her kids, for life.

Like you EC I too have wondered what took so long.

We still live in a double standard society, MEN that have fathered a dozen kids and just walked away leaving it up to the mothers to deal with.  These woman have to go on welfare too.

Who are the firkin sperm donors and why are they not taking responsibility for the litters of their children.?

How on earth does the mother remember all their names, how does she control all those kids when they are all fighting to be her favorite, boinking each other the head, up to mischief.

I only had 4 but I had to on trips and moving buy them matching shirts with a number 1-4 on the front so I would not loose them, be involved with one child's problem and have another one wander away.

Laundry for just 4, each week just for them was 8 sheets and pillow cases, school clothes and play clothes came to 24 pair socks, 10 dresses, 8 undies, 10 dress shirts and 10 dress pants.  Summer play clothes almost doubled with shorts and T's.

Shoes for just 4 were one pair of dress shoes each, a pair of sneakers flip flops and a spare pair of Bo-Bo's for an emergency.  That's about 16 pair of shoes every 3-4 months as they out grew them.

Food to feed the kids came from the military commissary's and even with lots of beans and rice one box of cereal lasted just one day. Big jar of peanut butter 2-3 days and a loaf of bread every day.

Now this is just for 4 kids, were 10 more to be added I would have run away from home.

I can understand the cost to feed and cloth 14 children, the labor intensive care is quite another thing.  A 24/7 hour job that never stops, when does the mother have time to use the bathroom or take a shower.?

Had this woman been born 500 years ago she would have been become an idol to worship at for the woman who were barren.

God bless these children at least one or two will justify their existence some where down the line.

Sorry I am anti abortion, for me to vilify the mother would be a complete contradition in terms.

Vesta, had she had these kids 500 years ago it's likely few if any of them would have lived out of infancy due to their medical issues.

So sadly true and not even just 500 years ago.  My ggf lost his mother and seven of his eight siblings back in Hungary before he emigrated.  I've got the Ellis Island record...he had to show WHERE he was headed to and who he was going to live with.  No free rides and no English lessons for him.
And damn if the man didn't learn English and get a job.  Of course that was in 1923.  I often picture him rolling over in his grave at today's immigrant giveaways, well, giveaways to Americans in general.

It was the 1700 and late 1800 that were the worse of times here in the city's and those of Europe for the loss of children and especially the mothers.

In Boston alone few woman lived through child birth in a hospital due to Child Birth Fever.  It was just a few Doctors that were laughed at and run out of business  on both sides of the Atlantic that tracked the cause to doctors not washing their hands .  I believe it was Oliver Wendell Holmes that insisted that Doctors at Pilgrim's Hospital wash their hands after going from one woman in labor to another.

From what I have read Dr. Holmes wondered why the poor Irish who gave birth at home with a midwife survived and few women of wealth lived when they went to the hospital.

Horrible time to be pregnant if one had some money and lived in a big city.

We had a quaint tradition up here on the coast of Maine and New Hampshire back then.  A man whose wife died in childbirth often took her sister or niece if she had one, into his home to care for the child and any other children he may have had from a former marriage.

As it was not fitting for a single woman to live with a single man so they would wed.  Then after giving birth to 7-8 children and her body wear out, along would come a relative of hers to now care for any surviving children and same O same O.

Not unusual to find an old grave stone with the husband, wife and the Consorts 3-4 of them and the names of 14 of everyones children on them.

Drives one Nuts when tracing genelogy trying to decipher the family tree.

Hubby's grandmothers came here around the early 1900's one from Poland and one from Italy.  One of my sister-in-laws has the records of their landing in NY and they both came to Boston.  We are still trying to figure out how everyone got together back then.  Seems there was an Italian grandfather that came over with one and the other one married  an Irish men  who had been in America since the 1700's if you can imagine that mess. As Hubby says at holidays the 7 kids would watch both grandmothers cook in the kitchen Cabbage& corn beef for their Dad, Spaghetti and other Italian food and Kalbasa and perigees.

Back to Octo Mom, she has 14 kids---yet Hubby's grandmothers gave birth to 11 and 13 children and managed to support them, working 16 hours a day in the weaving mills and still raise their kids---WONDER WOMAN.  They as your family did had to learn English and still send 10% of their earnings to the Church each week. If there was a money problem too bad the Priest still came around a banged on their door each week, the Church got paid first.

Octo Mom has it made in the shade when one thinks about it, she deliberately had 14 children in a most unnatural way, and has chosen to make her living off them.

So sad for the kids.

Why should the people of California have to pay for her litter?

Why should the people of California have to pay for her litter?

Because the socialists in that state have long since emasculated anybody or anything representing common sense and basic economic theory?
