It sure is dry around here right now. This was the place in the spring

and that's my girl, Leona:

after which a photograph of a horse

Contrast with this morning when these guys were passing through:

after which a photograph of an elk

after which a photograph of an antelope

This is my first full year at the ranch in ten years and I don't remember the place being this dry, ever.

1. Where is this?

I'm in west Sonoma County, it's a little dry but not too bad, very few fires so far compared to recent years, and we're supposed to get rain Friday!

4. South of the San Francisco Bay area.

We can see the very southern tip of the bay from the highest of our hills.

The weird part of this is that we had some rain into May, which is late.

Frank, is that the area in California where the environmentalists have bullied state officials into not allowing water to be pumped in because of environmental concerns?

Bullshit. I lived in the east hills of San Jose as a kid, circa 1964-70. Every year the grass dried out, just like the pics. Most of the area where I was was cattle ranching.
Those are a Buck and a Doe (deer), Frank. No Elk or Antelope in the area.   :lmao:

But the primitives don't think highly of my cerebral capacities, so I'm just playing their game.

I think KY has a product for that.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.

This year has really been very typical water-wise. The Summer has been cool, but overall, it has been normal.  I don't know what she is talking about.   :whatever:

I'm guessing the first picture was taken in the winter, and the 2nd in the summer.  Our hills are yellow every single summer. I think they actually stayed green longer than usual this year.

Looks like we are going to find out.  IMO, there's enough JD but it's close.

I lived in Santa Cruz for 25 years, on the coast not far from where she is. Around there, there are two seasons, the green one, and the brown one. This time of year is approaching the end of the brown season. The rains will kick in in November, ushering in the green season.
