But it's been a rule the president has observed at times and ignored at others. Now, it appears, is one of those times he's ignoring it.

Wasn't there some rule that President's couldn't write books while in office, even with a contract deal BEFORE being elected? Can someone help me out here?

There's the cover story, but if that's the truth why wait 2 years to bring it out. I'd have thought they would bring it out while his popularity was still high.
Good point. Maybe the publisher had a time table they were working with? But still, why would a publisher wait two years? I totally missed the 2008 part.
