My daughter & the American flag
« on: September 11, 2010, 01:19:52 PM »
This morning, I grabbed an American flag t-shirt to wear.  When I came out into the living room, our 14 month old daughter started staring at the shirt.  When I picked her up, I sat her down on my lap and she kept pointing at the flag.  She was talking her baby gibberish.  It was almost as if she was trying to tell me history about the flag.  It was so cute.  I tried to get her to count the stars with me, but she got bored with that and started pointing at the strips.  We counted those instead.

After a few minutes, she would point at the flag and then put her head on the flag as if it were her pillow.  She kept doing this a few more times.  I told her that it was her flag and it always will be.. no matter what happens.

Maybe this made me more emotional today since it's the 9th anniversary of 9/11.  It was enough to put a couple of tears in my eyes.
