Is it just in my state - or has this happened to you?

My daughter gets Medicaid - she is 23 and has multiple disabilities.

Today I get a letter from the state of Arizona saying they will no longer cover WELL Visits! because of state budget cuts.

I am shocked because this is the most insane thing I have ever heard of. A few years ago she was hospitalized for 7 months, she was literally fighting for her life. She's doing great now but I take her once or twice a year to get her blood checked to make sure everything is in order.

I cannot believe how the state thinks taking away well visits will save them money.

I'm just wondering if this is happening anywhere other than Arizona or if it's just our wonderful, compassionate, now famous, state legislature that has done this.

1. Oh - and they no longer cover dental...just let her teeth fall out.

Like depending upon the taxpayers to pay the dental bills is the only option available?

Teeth are important; sometimes one has to take actions on one's own.

2. My health insurance eliminated well visits for dependents -

- around the age of 10 or so. I don't remember the exact age but it was before middle school as I had to pay for all sports physicals out of my pocket. No dental, either.

7. It's insanity at it's best. Why wouldn't physicals be covered? And dental?

ugh...

3. Complain to your Senator! Contact the national newspapers and if McCain doesn't listen make an appointment with our health secretary. Don't leave it at that!

4. I agree - fight this. It was us parents who got good programs set up for our children and you have a good case. Go higher. Do not take no for an answer. Ask legal aids if they can help if they exist in your state.

5. I was thinking of writing a letter to Terry Goddard who is running against Brewer for Gov.

Who knows, maybe he can use this as a campaign issue - it's just so dumb because it will end up costing the state more money - duh!

McCain or Kyl could care less about everyday people and their every day problems...as we all know.

Are you saying to contact Sebelius? I never would have thought of that!

8. If you have any Democratic state legislators or senators

they are useful too.

So.....this appears to be the prevalent primitive perception.

There's only one option in life: let the government pay for it.

If the government won't pay for it, then nothing will get done.

And so it's the government's fault if something bad happens.

Never mind "personal responsibility."

Being poor demands creativity, imagination, motivation, and the willingness to take risks.  franksolich while not wealthy is not currently poor, but has been rock-bottom poor before.  With not a dime in his pocket, and with no governmental assistance, franksolich somehow managed to get good, if not top-of-the-line, dental care.

The primitives don't know shit about thinking outside the box.

Has the resident hobo bobo been notified of this?? Shirley this is part a master plan to let the most vulnerable wither on the vine (bobo has a research project going on this very thing, no??) :rotf:  Isn't she right next door in Colorado?

Does the first Half-rican also list Margret Sanger among his inspirational heroes?  Death panels?  Of course not, natural causes will do the trick caused by poor dental hygiene. :-)

Because it's insurance, it's not supposed to be health care, it's supposed to be insurance. You are responsible for finding and paying for your own and your dependents health care.

If something catastrophic and unusually expensive is needed, then you have insurance, to insure that you can pay for the unusual out of the ordinary, unexpected costs.  That's what insurance is for.

If we hadn't strayed so far from that model, we might be having some of the problems we have now.

That's exactly the reason why insurance rates have skyrocketed. States have mandated so many things be covered, and people expect every little thing to be paid for by the insurance. When I was a kid, our insurance basically covered serious illnesses or injuries, never physicals. I can remeber going for school physicals and my mom or dad paying in cash.

All I read was, "blah blah blah, where is my free money?"  Ever heard of a payment plan?  No sympathy here.  What's going to happen when the cities (some already have) start cutting back on police, fire, and medical responders?

911:  "Oh your house is on fire?  It will be about seven hours before someone gets over there to put it out.  You should probably grab a house and some neighbors to start putting it out."

At some point people stopped looking at health insurance as just that, insurance against catastrophic loss, and started taking for granted that it was some kind of discounted pre-payment plan for anything health-related. If auto insurance covered oil changes, tune-ups, new tires and accessories, engine rebuilds and everything else it would be as high as health insurance.

Health insurance companies are not charities any more than auto, property, life or any other kind of insurance. DUmbasses expect them to go bankrupt paying for everything from freezing a wart to whacking off their tallywacker and replacing it with a vagina. Always something for nothing they want. Well, nothing from them anyway.
