my "hippy dippy shoes"
I work with a group of very conservative people. You all know the story...

Yesterday one of my coworkers; I'll call him Bob said to me, " you sure got hippy dippy shoes"
I smiled at him like always because we work as a team and getting along is pretty important to me
"yes" I said, "I guess they are"
he remarked to the guy next to him "she didn't take that as an insult, I guess"
the other guy responded "I think she took it as a compliment."

Bob continued with his poor choices of words and wit, and I went back to my desk but then a little light came on...

"uh, Bob," I asked, "where were YOUR shoes made?"
he took his shoe off and responded "China"
"Well, MY shoes were made in Corvallis, Oregon, see, it says right here, 'Made in the USA' "

Bob didn't say anything else after that.
The other guy came up to me and started asking me questions about other places where you can buy American made goods.

This is just a little inconsequential tale, that should have attracted 2 comments.  The DUmmies fall all over themselves congratulating her on pwning Bob, and grinding him into the dirt.

2. Perfect. But even whe you counter their bullshit with facts and reality, it has no effect.
At least the other co-worker may have learned something about American-made goods. And very maybe, about the hypocrisy of the reich.

Settle down there, DUmmies.  What comes after that post is a picture of mimi's shoes.  You have got to go over and see the ugliest shoes you have ever seen on God's green earth.

WOW!!! All of a sudden you DUmmies are in favor of the U.S., although your views and consequences are so anti-American you fools. :bird: You use the U.S. only when it's in your favor as in a case like this! :censored:

I was thinking they look like they were made by the same people that make drawstring bags.

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

She paid $63 for those ugly shoes?  I've spent a lot more than that on shoes/boots but they actually look good.   I'm shocked that DU isn't having a collective fit over someone having $63 to spend on shoes.

I try and spend less than $30 on shoes. KMart or Walmart is good enough to buy tennis shoes for me.

I bought a pair of sandals at target for $12 and I've worn them just about every day this summer.

I wear tennis shoes at work, and the chemicals and other things are hard on shoes, and in general I'm hard on shoes, which is why I won't spend much for them.

My wife will lok for shoes at different places at the mall, then she ends up buying some from either KMart or Walmart, too. She's easy to please, I think I'll keep her. :)

I agree they look uber-dorky. Lots of nurses and surgeons I know swear by them though. I settle for a good pair of walking sneakers at work.

Ugh, I HATE CROCS!!!   I was at the post office yesterday, and there was a guy in there wearing purple/lavendar  ones.  He looked so Teh Ghey.

ETA, Vivismom, I also just went over to the website that sells those shoes.  All they are are sleeping bags you put on your feet!  WTF is up with that?

What are those fugly shoes classified as? They look like mules with an elastic back and not all that comfortable to me.

I seriously doubt this happened, either - people who work in offices don't care about someone else's footwear, especially the men. I think the OP there just wanted to post a pic of her new shoes for some reason.

I buy New Balance shoes.  Made in the USA, too.   :cheersmate:

You can usually get a pair of them on sale for under $40.

I've had the same pair of New Balance sneakers since 2006.  There isn't much left of them but they still work.

I got a pair of brand new Asics on eBay for $30.  I don't give a rip where they're made but I do care how much they cost. I won't pay even the outrageous (but supposedly relatively cheap) price for them on Zappos. However, my 51 year old knees take a lot of abuse from high impact workouts and they need the support. So I scour different resources and wait until I find a price I can afford (and am willing to pay). Of course, they look damn cool, too, not like Birkenstock knock-offs made in OR.

Besides, why would said comment shut him up? I suppose he could've been laughing so hard he couldn't say anything.

Fortunately most of the hospitals around here have banned crocks.

Guess I'll settle for my New Balance running shoes. They seem comfortable enough for standing on my feet 8-12 hours a day. And I managed to get two pairs for 80 bucks. Not bad since I can't usually find shoes as it is. Damn having big feet.

It's all a lie, as DUmmy's do so well. Everybody, and I mean everybody, knows that liberals/democrats/socialists only wear Birkenstocks.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

I got a really comfortable pair of sandals at Target this summer too for like $14, Adidas makes almost an identical sandal of the 1 I bought in Target and they wanted over $30 for them.
