To be honest, I've never been a fan of Apple until today.
I heard about the Apple TV and thought it was an amazing deal. The Apple TV box costs $99. TV Shows cost .99 cents and HD movies are $3.99. We pay $56 a month on cable, including internet. If we bought this Apple TV, our cable costs would decrease. We would only have to pay $30/mo for internet, unless we can access the internet from the Apple TV as well. Then we would save that money every month.

I think Apple just released this gadget yesterday.
Has anyone looked into this product and also thought about purchasing? We are tempted to buy it.
We don't watch a lot of television, so charging $1 for a TV show wouldn't bother us. We would probably end up spending maybe $20 a month.
Jess, we actually bought an Apple TV (hereafter "ATA") for my birthday back in January, and use it
constantly. Here's my $0.72:
We originally bought this because we wanted to take advantage of our wireless broadband and the ridiculous amount of movies I have on my MacBook (well over 500 currently stored on an external hard drive). I loved the idea that I could open turn on the ATV, open my MacBook and watch any movie, TV show or video in my iTunes right on our TV. As an added bonus, she and I are HUGE
Top Gear fans, and learned that even though BBC America shows episodes, they end up cutting ab good 20 minutes from the show, so for $15, we can watch the entire season, uncut. Same goes for any other show you might be interested in.
Now, without going into too much detail, the way ATV works now out of the box (the new one has yet to be released, I think), you CAN access the internet and YouTube, but Hulu, Fancast, Boxee, etc aren't available. However, me being the greedy prick I am, quickly discovered numerous websties that happily tell you how to "hack" your ATV using it's built-in USB port and a flashstick you can create simply by downloading a program. This "hack" allows you to do everything from streaming Netflix to Hulu (which we do constantly).
I should also mention that we paid $300 for this thing in January, and I now understand that Jobs has cut it back to $99. :-(
Jess, it's a steal, and I say you should definitely go for it.
