Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

What are the penalties for a CCW permit holder, if caught carrying?

If I were in NC with my CCW, you'd have to be high to think I wouldn't carry during such an event.

What the hell do they think the police carry them for?

Also, obligatory looter guy picture:

Hi,

Having evacuated for hurricanes several times when we lived on the beach, I can tell you that I damn sure would be armed.  When we evacuate we took all the things of value we could put into the vehicle before we got out of there.

That is a really stupid law.

5412,
I like your writing and opinion. But you missed the boat on this one.

What's wrong with the "order" is it effects a state that's 400 miles wide. Why does Charlotte, Ashville, Boone and all of western NC have to comply with a local event on the coast?

It is clear that the law incorporates the language cited and should be visited by the NC legislature.
However it is a bit perhaps misleading to suggest that it is the reason for the state of emergency declaration and is linked to a blog.
Is there a news outlet of some kind that supports the assertion that banning firearms is the purpose of the declaration.
I am inclined to move this to politics or some other forum otherwise.

Blog, news, which is MORE credible nowadays?? Most all of the media outlets have a bias and report on what the CHOOSE to report. The examiner is a media outlet, perhaps not as good as the Alphabet outlets, perhaps also not as biased. BTW, I posted this same info in the Second Amendment area of the Gun Board yesterday.

I won`t argue that is the case often so perhaps we need to clarify what is acceptible as a source and link to qualify as breaking news.

Hi,

What is wrong with the order?  In my opinion the order is wrong for the very reason they passed the law regarding concealed carry permits in the first place.  Americans have a right to defend themselves, whether it be in peaceful times or stressful times.  It is fact that criminals do not obey the law when it comes to firearms anyway so the only people who would disarm are the very people who could be trusted with them......and like what happened in Katrina, they are left helpless and defenseless and are easy prey for armed criminals......just like what happened in Katrina.

Either folks with concealed carry permits and those with legally owned firearms are capable of good judgment or they are not.  The criminals don't much give a shit.  There is a reason violent crime has dropped an average of 17% in the states with concealed carry laws.  There is a reason the murder rate in DC hit a 45 year low in the first year following the Heller ruling.  The armed criminal is much more afraid of the armed citizen than the police.....and in a hurricane or disaster of that type they know there are certain places that the police just cannot protect.

Give me one good reason why there should be such an order?  All it does is put law abiding citizens lives further at risk.

regards,
5412

PS:  I have lived in the south a good bit of my life.  A spray painted sign on a piece of plywood that says, "Looters will be shot" with a couple confederate flags pasted on it is indeed a great deturrent to crime.
