Dutch question 2 terror suspects on flight from O'Hare
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:50:39 AM »

THE HAGUE, Netherlands -- Dutch investigators today were questioning two men arrested at Amsterdam's airport after U.S. authorities found suspicious items in their checked luggage from O'Hare International Airport, including a cell phone taped to a Pepto-Bismol bottle and a knife and box cutter.

The pair, both Yemenis, were arrested Monday morning at Schiphol Airport after getting off a United Airlines flight from O'Hare, where their decision to change their flight plans raised flags in the United States, officials said.

They were being held at the airport for questioning, but neither has been charged with any offense in the Netherlands, said Martijn Boelhouwer, the national prosecutor's office spokesman.

Edmond Messchaert, a spokesman for the National Coordinator for Counterterrorism, said the organization was aware of the case, but would not comment further.

"We are in the loop. We were informed yesterday that this was going down and we are being kept informed of progress," Messchaert told The Associated Press.

While I find it disturbing that a cell phone taped to a bottle of Pepto Bismol wasn't confiscated, just out of sheer principal, it does appear that the system tracked these two "suspects" to the point that air marshals were on the flight from Chicago to Amsterdam.

Carrying $7K in cash isn't illegal. Okay, I get that.

But a cell phone taped to a bottle of Pepto Bismol? What kind of freak does that, unless he's practicing for a future attempt at bomb-making?

Unfortunately, they haven't done anything....yet.  Needless to say, we need to stay on our toes.  These two were likely conducting a trial run of sorts.

Newsflash--TSA=Thousands Standing Around.  This is the same agency which DID let the Times Square Bomber on a flight until it was stopped quite literally on the runway.

Funny how the TSA can bust the balls of perfectly normal looking people, but have some mooselam or Middle Eastern looking people in line and they get a more relaxed screening!!! WTF!?!? :bird: :bird: :censored:
If you're going to screen everyone/bust everyone's balls, they do EVERYONE!! :hammer:
