Someone help me out, what do teabaggers mean when they say they want to "take the country back"?
   
Do they want to take us back to the days of energy task force, or the time when a lot of people unfortunately seemed to think that gays were 10 foot tall evil wizards with magical powers, or the time when people checked under their beds and in their closets for COMMUNISTS!!!, or the time when "witches" were burned at the stake, or the time when you had people on your farm and you weren't really obligated to pay them anything at all, or the time when you weren't free to sit where you wanted on the bus, or what?

This era is far from perfect, but you could easily say that we have a lot less fear and want than in the past.

Maybe it's fun for you all to live in fear of Muslims, feminists, blacks, immigrants, gays, Latinos, liberals, atheists, people who know that trickle down economics is a scam, the poor, etc., but the rest of us want to live in the now, and I think November will reflect that.

I can't speak for other 'teabaggers" but I want the country to go back to the days when we had freedom to make our own decisions on things like health care. I want the days when prosperity was thought to be a good thing and if you worked hard you got to keep the fruits of your labor. I want a return to the days when our president was proud to be an American and was proud of our country. A return to the days when national defense meant something and wasn't an inconvenience or, a distraction from the president's golf score.

Personally, I think the need to control others in order to feel good yourself is a sign of mental illness, usually accompanied by a lack of self-control.

Which popular political board recently had a busy body who wanted  to force his neighbor to recycle? Was it free Republic? Oh that's right it was DU. Liberals want nothing more than total control over our lives. From what we are allowed to eat, how much space we can have in our houses, and how much gas our cars can burn.

Given that, your concern about where conservatives want to take the country is irrelevant since neither you nor those who hold the same political viewpoints have a clue about truth, justice, freedom, liberty, and responsibility.

We want to go back to a time when:

It was more important that our children were taught the "Three R's" rather than "Steven Has Two Mommies".

Politics ended at the waters edge.

The virtures, values and belief system of America was something to be held up as an achevement NOT as something to be ashamed of.

Every one was just an "American" not a hyphenated-American.

Things were seen in black and white when it came to issues of crime or evil in the world, not millions of shades of gray.

Everything that happened in the world was not the fault of or to be blamed on America.

People had a respect for and knowledge of the Constitution.

Christian values were respected, not mocked.

The free market economy that has allowed this country to prosper for over 230 years wasn't on the verge of being destroyed.

I think part of the problem with dummies is they think if we are proud of our country than we must think that our country has never been wrong. When that is not the case. Us conservatives can admit that at times the people in our country and our govt did things that were wrong. Examples are slavery which we eventually outlawed and rightfully so. Some of our wars and how we fought them may be questioned. Some of the laws in our past were wrong too.

However despite the mistakes and growing pains of this country we have a pretty damn fine country.
