Ex-Marine Guilty of Killing Pregnant Colleague
« on: August 23, 2010, 04:44:02 PM »

GOLDSBORO, N.C. -- A jury on Monday convicted a former Marine of first-degree murder in the death of a pregnant colleague who had accused him of rape, a charge that stalled the military career he treasured.

Cesar Laurean, 23, of Las Vegas, was found guilty of killing Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, 20, of Vandalia, Ohio, in December 2007. The two were assigned to the same logistics unit at Camp Lejeune, the base in Jacksonville that is home to about 50,000 Marines.

The former Marine was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Wouldn't the EX-marine have the UCMJ to face when he's done with civillian hard time?  (I thought I read somewhere where the military and civillian authorities both have a case against a scumbag, the civvies get him first, and the military will bust his chops if/when he gets out of civillian custody.)

His life is pretty much over, what a waste.

And so is his victim's.

Actually there a little loop hole here in NC that is at the State Supreme Court right now that made a life sentence about 37 years if convicted during part of the 70's.  Equal application of the law and all.

yes I probably should have elaborated some on that with my statement  :uhsure:
