We pay almost $300 to Comcast every month for our complete cable, HD and internet service, and we STILL haven't gotten that channel added out here!!!
That sucks!
I pay ~$80.00 a month for Dish with the 200 channel basic, 5 superstation, local Portland, OR channels, AND the HD package! I am very pleased with Dish and if you try them, make sure they do NOT try to charge you for the HD dish/DVR-receiver install. If the sales rep tries to jack you around, call back, tell them a B.S. story of how Comcast sucks and you want Dish. Your first time install should be free for install, dish, and DVR-receiver. You can connect your Internet to the Dish receiver for extra programming stuff AND, a big-honkin USB hard drive to it for extra storage. It should be worth a free phone call to check it out plus Dish has more HD channels and some kind of Free HD For life promotion.
After that, I spend $50.00 a month for Comcast Internet. I have found that Dish satellite picture quality is superior to that of Comcast and the Dish receiver responds and switches channels substantially faster and the channel grid is more functional than that of the Comcast receivers.
As an added bonus, don't know if you are into it or not but Dish is the only carrier that carries WFN - The World Wide Fishing Network!
Yup! 24-hour fishing in HD!
ETA:
the Dish HD "dual-tuners" receivers will drive two TV's independently, one in HD and the other, say in a bedroom in standard def using two independent remotes.
