Damn!
I bought the DVD years ago but forgot just how funny it is.

"Candygram For Mongo"

"The sheriff is a n...er"

"Excuse me while I whip this out"

Only Mel Brooks could come up with a Jewish Chief Sitting Bull.

...not to mention "raping the shit out of them at the number 6 dance..."

We pay almost $300 to Comcast every month for our complete cable, HD and internet service, and we STILL haven't gotten that channel added out here!!!  :banghead:

I have to wonder what the outrage would be if a movie like Blazing Saddles were to have been first released in todays world??

That sucks!

I pay ~$80.00 a month for Dish with the 200 channel basic, 5 superstation, local Portland, OR channels, AND the HD package! I am very pleased with Dish and if you try them, make sure they do NOT try to charge you for the HD dish/DVR-receiver install. If the sales rep tries to jack you around, call back, tell them a B.S.  story of how Comcast sucks and you want Dish. Your first time install should be free for install, dish, and DVR-receiver. You can connect your Internet to the Dish receiver for extra programming stuff AND, a big-honkin USB hard drive to it for extra storage. It should be worth a free phone call to check it out plus Dish has more HD channels and some kind of Free HD For life promotion.

After that, I spend $50.00 a month for Comcast Internet. I have found that Dish satellite picture quality is superior to that of Comcast and the Dish receiver responds and switches channels substantially faster and the channel grid is more functional than that of the Comcast receivers.

As an added bonus, don't know if you are into it or not but Dish is the only carrier that carries WFN - The World Wide Fishing Network!
Yup! 24-hour fishing in HD!

ETA:

the Dish HD "dual-tuners" receivers will drive two TV's independently, one in HD and the other, say in a bedroom in standard def using two independent remotes.

That is why I bought it on DVD over ten years ago. I had watched it on HBO shortly before that and they "sliced-n-diced" it to the point of ruin. The DVD version I have and the version they played today are the original cuts.

I worked on an outfit whose cowboss bought Lester the Longhorn (Mongo's steed) on a whim.  Big ole sucker had decided his riding days were over and would swing his head back and wap you with a horn when we tried.  Left a mark, I'll tell you.

I get a kick out of that movie.

It's like "All in the Family" on tv. Could never be made now. Never mind that Archie's views were being held up to ridicule (even while being made a 3-dimensional, and at root, lovable) character. You just can't say the words. Stupid. And Norman Lear is somewhere to the left of Michael Moore.

I remember seeing Blazing Saddles when it was released. People walked out during the "campfire" scene. I laughed so hard I cried.
“The national budget must be balanced. The public debt must be reduced; the arrogance of the authorities must be moderated and controlled. Payments to foreign governments must be reduced, if the nation doesn't want to go bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.”

Even the throwaway lines are hilarious...

Some of my favorites:

Bart: "The bitch was inventing the candygram."

The Waco Kid: "I've killed more men than Cecil B. DeMille."

Taggart: "You use your tongue purtier than a $20 whore..."

God alone suffices.

"Well my name is Jim, but most people call me...Jim."

"oh I don't know, play chess, screw.."

Cleavon Little: "well let's play chess."
