I just noticed that they have a banner on top of the forum and it lists the number of those who have donated, it's up to 247 now, but in the past didn't they have a money amount thing and say what the goal is? and they'd list the actual amount that has been donated so far? did they go this new route because of all the people who've been pizza'd? and because so many are unhappy there?
My fellow alum Skins has NEVER posted a dollar total, although five years ago he admitted that Skins's island rakes in about $25,000 per quarterly fund-raiser, or $100,000 a year.
But that was five years ago; the amounts of course could have risen or fallen since then.
It's "nice" to post a dollar amount, but as Skins's island is privately-owned real-estate, it's not necessary if the owner doesn't want to. And so my fellow alum is simply exercising a reasonable right, in not posting dollar amounts.
This fund-raiser, if the number donating is an accurate clue (which it might, or might not, be), appears to be going slower than fund-raisers in the past.
This is why franksolich, when bringing a campfire from Skins's island over here, always puts in blue lettering a reminder under the name of a non-donating primitive, to gently remind that particular primitive to hurry up and donate.
Money of course means nothing, nothing at all, a mere
bagatelle, even a nuisance, to my fellow alum Skins, who's interested in Higher Things--the guy makes St. Francis of Assisi look like money-grubbing Donald Trump--but because of the old school tie, franksolich feels compelled to help his non-materialistic fellow alum gin the money-mill, because franksolich, being more worldly than Skins, knows money's important.
