U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney, whose district includes much of Martin and St. Lucie counties, is hoping he won’t have to attend the Democratic Party national convention in Denver in August.

If he does go, that will mean the Democrats still haven’t decided a nominee for the presidential election. And if neither Sen. Hillary Clinton nor Sen. Barack Obama has clinched the nomination by August, Mahoney says we may see a brokered convention, meaning the nominee could emerge from a negotiated settlement.

“If it (the nomination process) goes into the convention, don’t be surprised if someone different is at the top of the ticket,” Mahoney said.

A compromise candidate could be someone such as former vice president Al Gore, Mahoney said last week during a meeting with this news organization’s editorial board.

If either Clinton or Obama suggested to a deadlocked convention a ticket of Gore-Clinton or Gore-Obama, the Democratic Party would accept it, Mahoney said.

Mahoney told of how impressed he is by Clinton’s commitment to helping people and her human touch. When Clinton learned that Mahoney’s daughter is interested in horses, she called the girl to encourage her interest, Mahoney said.

Yeah, how many other girls has Clinton called to encourage their interest in horses or anything else?  The only reason that girl got a phone call is because her father has a vote Billary needs.

So shallow.

This floors me!  I cannot imagine a party so lost they think a hasbeen like Gore could save the day. 

The man is a loser.  Al Gore is a punchline.  This is not a nation brimming with respect for the Clown-statesmanship of Al Gore.

Tennessee would not vote for him this time either. 

Al Gore wouldn't run in a million years anyway.  He can't afford to lose again.  He would be finished forever and for all.

I heard this earlier today ... it floors me too. How could the Dems allow someone to take the top of the ticket without even having to lift a finger during the debates? Al is on a crusade that most of the educated planet laughs at .. that's their 'go to' guy?

If thats the best they can do, i think McCain can do a lot of stupid crap between now and November and still not fall to this level of idiocy.

I think this is a FANTASIC idea! It's well known that the Gores hate the Clintons, nothin' better than Al and Tipper stepping in and brushing HildeBeast aside! Shrillary and her Arkansas Mafia would go ballistic. Operation CHAOS would be enhanced and McCain would still beat Algore in the GE! The Dem party would be in ruins!

It's the perfect Rovian Storm!

Shep Smith was talking about this earlier... he first said "A Gore Clinton ticket... er.. a Clinton Gore ticket" .. he may have been doing that intentionally, but he was definitely having fun with it  :-)
