 I want to brag on a cop.

A family crisis this past Thursday required me to hop a flight from Atlanta to Michigan. I managed to score a seat downwind of the bathrooms (ugh), in the middle between two wide shouldered football player types who tried but failed to maintain the 17" allotted to them by Delta's sardine can plane designers. Fortunately I top out at 4'11" and 98 pounds on a fat day so we managed.

Well, we managed until a "middle eastern looking man" and the hajib wearing woman traveling with him got near where I was. The plane got really quiet and I heard the following whispered conversation from the row behind me

A male - "We should tell the stewardess they were hoping the plane won't crash."
Female - "Stop it. They'll empty the whole plane and we'll end up in the airport all night."
Male - " But I want that f@$%ing raghead off the plane."

The female didn't immediately respond. I'd like to think she was as stunned as the rest of us who overheard it. The guy sitting next to me (or rather on me) unbuckled and walked to the back of the plane. By then the usual pre-boarding hubub started up again and I couldn't hear anything else from behind me. Next thing I know the flight attendant was asking the couple from the seats behind us to gather up their belongings, they were being moved to the front of the plane. I never saw them again and few minutes later someone else came to occupy those seats.

Well I found out after we landed the big guy smashing me the whole way was some big shot in the Atlanta PD and got the bigots kicked off the plane. Seems Delta used their standby tickets as the excuse to take them off and put them on a later flight. The gate agent in Michigan told me but by then the cop was long gone.

The bigot probably DID spend the night in the airport and I hope to God his wife don't speak to him for a month.........

You know cops take a lot of shit on the DU. But this guy did a good thing. I don't know his name but if I ever run across him again around Atlanta I'm going to shake the man's hand and buy him a beer.

This has to be one of the worst bouncies I've ever read.  They heard a whispered conversation duing BOARDING?  (or at any other time, for that matter...) (We are currently in Orlando, flew out, fly back today...and I have been through enough boarding recently to know beyond any doubt that it NEVER gets quiet, and you can't hear the people behind you unless you stand up and look at them - which I've had to do to hear my kids a couple times.)


The agent at the destination knew about a couple removed from a plane at during boarding? 

A cop could get someone tossed like that, for saying something offensive?

I find it interesting though that the 'Cop that jumped out of the bushes' was a good guy -- that is an unusual play in a bouncy.. Almost refreshing..

Aside from sounding like a I do find it interesting that the DUmmie was complaining about bigotry while being a bigot herself, she's a bigot against large people judging by these comments:

I was taking my seat when a gentleman of middle eastern looks took the seat next to me. He avoided eye contact and ignored me.

Another man took the isle seat and off we flew. this middle eastern spoke not one word to either of us on both sides of us and after 60 minutes in the air he began to twitch.

He seemed to be having problem with the leg room and I noticed he kept trying to untie his shoes.

After the 6-7 time of him trying to bend over I looked at the gentleman in the isle seat and when he moved I got a quick look at a weapon on his belt.

An Air Marshal I am thinking, is he keeping an eye on the passenger next to me.?

 I am remembering the shoe bomber and getting a bit nervous.  I don't want to make a scene so I tried to get the attention of the armed law man with facial expressions--you know I looked at him and rolled my eyes in the directions of the middle mans feet. I tried twitching my head in that direction but all I got was a wide smile from the Marshal.

We landed with no problem to find a press group waiting to meet a world famous heart surgeon, the middle eastern passenger, and the police.

I was arrested for solicitation of a law man, spent 2 days in Jail until family could post bond for me.

making a remark about an idiot wearing a Palin 2012 button? Or about a redhead? Or about someone with an "I heart Jesus" t-shirt? Would you find those remarks offensive enough to warrant them getting kicked off a flight?

For all you know, maybe they were on the way to visit a dying relative. They should not be inconvenienced, or punished, just because they make offensive remarks among themselves.

Maybe the bottom line here should be, "Don't eavesdrop."

they didn't say loud enough to be disruptive. though offensive, i dont see the airline has the right to interrupt their plans in that manner and the cop has the authoritarian power to make it happen.

i think this sounds like exactly the argument one would use painting the cop in a poor picture but because he kicked assholes off the plane, we thumbs up it.

Do "gate agents" usually become informed of the minutiae that goes on at other airports so quickly? Not to mention share the boarding information of another passenger with a total stranger?

Okay, providing the agent at the departing airport immediately got on the phone to call an agent at the arrival airport whom he/she probably doesn't know (that would be like expecting 2 Walmart pharmacy clerks in 2 different states to know each other just because they have the "same" job), to report that 2 people WOULD NOT be arriving, why would said clerk tell an anonymous passenger? I don't know about this DUmmie but in my experience agents pay little attention to those getting off the plane. Being that the bigoted troublemakers were led off the plane (why such a thing would be grounds for removal I don't know) "arrival clerk" would have no reason to even care he/she barely avoided having such terrible people in his/her fine airport.

Now we have an even more fun case that is just now in the news, I have no link yet but one is sure to come up.

Woman boarding a plane believes she smells booze on the pilots breath.

She takes an attendant aside and tells her what she believed she smelled----upshot was she was escorted off the plane.
