midsummer doldrums on Skins's island
« on: July 24, 2010, 11:18:09 AM »
The pickings have been pretty slim on Skins's island as of late, the primitives not putting out like they used to.

Perhaps this is a consequence of my fellow alum Skins paring back active membership by half, easing off the island those primitives not wholly enamoured of il Duce Bo.  One assumes many of those primitives have floated over to the ulmic shores, the elm-infested isle.

Some many months ago, our esteemed colleague GOBUCKS mourned the fact that they don't make primitives like they used to, and perhaps GOBUCKS was right.  It's all very sad.

Or perhaps it's just the mid-summer doldrums.

One longs for the days when Pedro Picasso, for example, lightened our moods as if a big meteor slowly streaking across the skies, a blazing beacon of utterly ridiculousness.  As far as one knows, Pedro Picasso has not actually gone away from Skins's island; one assumes his employer doesn't want him hanging around the island, as it's bad for the Democrat fund-raising business.

(Which I always thought most peculiar; if franksolich worked for a Republican fund-raising business, and said he posted here on conservativecave, that employer would say, "Good--that's great, do more of it, keep it up."  One wonders why it's different in Pedro Picasso's case.)

Or the worthless freeloading bum the wily primitive, "Wiley50," or the lazy shadowy primitive, "Shadow69."  One assumes that since the affluent CalPig primitive wouldn't give the worthless freeloading bum the wily primitive a place to stay in her Streisandian-grandeured home, the worthless freeloading wily primitive is out on the streets.....or in jail, given his propensity for seeking out illicit drugs.  And the wife of the lazy shadowy primitive had tossed him out of their house, denying him easy internet access.

And there's Leona Helmsley of DUmmieland, the "flyarm" primitive, who pops in every so often, but not nearly as much as she used to.  Or the sensitive lad, the piano-playing primitive "goodboy," apparently working in some dead-end job in Ohio down near the border with West Virginia.  Or the malicious cartoon character, the "Kelvin Mace" primitive, beset with bill-collecting telephone calls.  One remembers fondly the "liberalnurse" primitive--one had hoped that on July 7, there would be a "reunion" of the Andyites, as there had been in previous years, but alas the primitives seemed to have forgotten the late red round one.

The "greenbriar" primitive of course has been hanging around Skins's island with a new disguise, but she's been only a pale imitation of her former real self.  And the gigantic primitive's been shrinking from the spotlight.

One assumes the unappellated eohippus, the "Horse With no Name" primitive, has self-immolated in a spinning orgiastic frenzy of rage and Hate.

The Bostonian Drunkard was of course forcibly tossed off the island, as had been Fat Che a few years earlier.  One notices Fat Che has moved from island-to-island, always a smaller one every time, so as to be a big fish.....but in a mud-puddle.  And the lying tits primitive, "TominTib."

The barefooted unkind uncultured primitive, the "KyndKultur" primitive.....

The dysfunctional American primitive, the "DistressedAmerican" with his wretched "art"work.....

Mrs. Alfred Packer, the "hippywife" primitive still lingers, but not as much as she used to; it's pretty pathetic when the sparkling husband primitive, "Stinky the Clown" is now one of the top posters on Skins's island.

The racist babbling sister primitive, and the "Joanne98" primitive.....

And there's the classic primitive, the bird-smacking stoned red-faced primitive, "Redstone".....

Where oh where are these star primitives of yesteryear, these Primitives of Yore?

This "second generation" of primitives is but a pale imitation of the first generation.

But then, perhaps it's just the mid-summer doldrums, nothing more than that.  One surely hopes that's all it is.

I've got the summer blahs, too, though I'm not a primitive, or a Giardia, or whatever the nom de jour is for them.  ('Course, dropping $90 or so at Saratoga Race Course yesterday didn't help, either.)

Perhaps this is a consequence of my fellow alum Skins paring back active membership by half, easing off the island those primitives not wholly enamoured of il Duce Bo.  One assumes many of those primitives have floated over to the ulmic shores, the elm-infested isle.

That would be my guess, that the slow purge of the 99% Dear Leader worshippers in favor of the 100% Dear Leader worshippers has contributed to the doldrums.  As the primitives are purged, they are running over to the elm tree site, but that place is nothing more than a mini-DU that allows it's members to be somewhat critical of Dear Leader.  Otherwise, there's nothing different about it.

I do, however, find it interesting that even years after being cast off Skin's island, the primitives still long to go back.  In one way, I find it to be odd, for who would want to return to a place where they believe they were mistreated?  But understanding the nature of primitives (that each one considers themself to be the smartest person in the room and how dare they cast off the best and the brightest they had), it is not surprising, and I'm sure this desire to return will continue.

But after the fallout of the latest manifesto from Skin's dies down and the 100% worshippers get back the control they so desire, we're going to see a big push from them to play up all the accomplishments of Dear Leader, or as is the case, their enhanced version of what they have convinced themselves are the truth.  The lies they will manufacture will be fun to watch.  As November rolls around, and things aren't going as they had hoped, we should see some major anger start to unfold.  The vile and spittle from their lips will blanket the island, and no doubt there will be some (hopefully many) that will provide the type of over-the-top insanity we've come to expect.

Patience.

She was not one of the great loves of my life, but she was

Edited on Sat Jul-24-10 02:17 PM by Redstone

definitely one of the most recurrent ones, as we intersected now and again - actually quite frequently - through the latter half of the 1970s; which is not to diminish the passion sparked by each encounter and re-encounter. Not at all.

My Debbie.

I think of her today, as I remember how we met: Me sitting down at the table in the bar where she sat with her friends, all strangers to me, I inviting myself to that table because the bar was crowded and there was an open chair, and her remarking almost immediately that she was an artist, and that I had the most graceful hands she'd ever seen, and would I allow her to paint a portrait of my hands, some day? (Beats the hell out of "What's your sign?" as a pickup line, doesn't it, especially given that this was back in the inexpressibly callow days of the 1970s.)

I was a classical and flamenco guitarist then, so of course any praise of my pampered hands worked a charm.

How many other times had I sat in a workman's bar, drinking a Rock and a shot of Jack, only to end up having to punch the shit out of a stranger of a steelworker with my hand that he'd noticed and criticized, the right hand with the beautifully-manicured and polished fingernails (the homegrown fingerpicks) - not that the ignorant **** would take the time to notice that the nails of my LEFT hand were persecuted beyond existence...

But those are nuances. And nuances that are beside the point as well, historical filler though they may provide. And Debbie, I'll mention even though it's not germane to that point either, was one of those women of southern Italian heritage who, although she may not have been a Playboy-class beauty, possessed that smoky sexuality (I'm not going to cheapen that quality by diluting it to the term 'sensuality') that simply would NOT allow itself to be resisted.

At least not by me.

I think of Debbie today (Did I refer to her as 'my' Debbie above? Forgive me for that arrogance, Deb; I know you were never 'mine' any more than you were anyone's other than your own) as I look at my hands, those once-agents of my identity, now long and irretrievably lost to arthritis and overuse. I've not been able to use those hands to coax the sounds from a guitar; those sounds that would bring me to something as close to tears as anything ever could, those sounds that would open a woman's heart to the feelings that would be the same from a man's heart, though he'd not show them in public (unless he were Spanish) for well over ten years now.

Those hands are no longer so elegant that they attract the notice of an artistic woman. These days, they attract only the notice of joint-replacement specialists, and perhaps the odd stranger who might note the bone spurs.

Deb, I'm sorry. I apologize that I have not been able to maintain the hands that brought us together (and the ones, I hope, that you remember bringing you so much pleasure) to the standard that you would have expected that I should have done.

But you weren't close to perfect yourself, kiddo. Were you?

None of that matters now.

All that matters today is this: I look at my hands, and I think of you, Debbie. Go with God.

Frank, I can't imagine it getting more active right now, you have the mid-terms coming up and the Democrats aren't supposed to do good, you have Obama doing a horrible job, the reality is that progressive ideology has failed, so instead of sticking it out like the conservatives, as you can see after we lost the Presidency the House and the Senate, we didn't retreat, we continued posting at whatever board we posted at when we had everything, we didn't give up, the progressives have pretty much given up. Sure you have a few delusional cheerleaders, but they're lying to themselves, that's how they deal with it.

I think when the fall rolls around and the mid-terms happen, the Island will perk right back up. But yeah, I miss the old primitives too. If you go back and read the Top DUmmies of...threads, there's a lot to be wistful about.  :evillaugh:

They are in search of an outrage and nothing is sticking so they meander through life as the lost and infantile souls that they are.

It's worse, neighbor . . . the outrage is blue on blue.  A lot of these idiots know what is coming this fall, and they don't like it one bit, because they'll be out of Washington.

And the giardia don't like it one tiny atom.

Preliminary counts with the DUmpDiver 4 prototype show about 2500 idiots posting in a single week.

That's down almost 2000 from before the election.

This doesn't surprise me - between the purges, and the lack of a political enemy to unite them, those that weren't purged have wandered off.

Well, the problem was foreseen by many here, when the Dems gained the entire Congress and then the Administration, it left them in a terrible quandary, since whining about De Debbil Gubmint then became de facto disloyalty, and bannable.  I expect they will have more fodder, and return to full madness levels, after the first Tuesday in November.

Personally, I feel the word has come down to Skinner from above - corral the lunatics to keep the nominal leftist extremism subdued during the election cycle. Think about it - the left OWNS Congress and the White House yet they have become more unhinged than at any other time.

Why?

THEY ARE FRACKING INSANE!!!111

Let's keep the cave dwellers suppressed until AFTER the elections - then we will once again unleash the hounds.

Meanwhile...the VRWC ponders its next moves...(while drinking a very expensive Scotch...of course...)
