Karl Rove is up to something......

The past few weeks, there's been a concerted effort on the part of the right-wing noise machine to make the subject of every political discussion be about race.

The right-wing has decided to make 2010 a "Willie Horton" election... calculating that their best chance to take back congress is to bleed off as much independent white vote from the Democrats as possible.

They want to make the focus of this election be anything but what is actually going on in Washington. They know that their party's image is completely in the crapper (20% approval, 60% disapproval) and that they can't win on any kind of conservative economic message.

Their previous mantra of "tax cuts" being the answer to every ill is falling on deaf ears. To paraphrase a southern colloqialism, that dog won't hunt anymore.

Their office holders continue to embarrass themselves with moves like apologizing to BP, comparing the economic crisis to an "ant", aligning with birthers, etc.

The average middle class white guy is finally coming around to the idea that regulation is not evil, but necessary. That big business doesn't care about him and his family. The Republican party wants that guy going into the voting booth thinking about anything BUT what corporate America is doing to him. They want him thinking about race.

They're banking on him having enough latent racism and mistrust of the "other" to push them over the top in November.

They can't win on the issues anymore. The American people haven't forgotten who got us into this mess (poll after poll still shows that a majority blames Bush for our economic situation).

So... they're resurrecting the corpse of Lee Atwater. They're going to try to use Willie Horton politics to win the day. One last time going to the well with "southern strategy" politics.

Karl Rove is behind it, I guarantee. The message is too concerted, too similar. The only thing the right wing media talks about is "reverse racism" over the past few weeks.

It's because they're losing legislatively and their ideas (the few tired stale ideas they have) are not being accepted.

Our best hope is that in the 22 years that have passed since the '88 election, the American electorate has grown up a little bit with respect to race. The '08 election was a good sign.

Don't let Lee Atwater win another election for the GOP. Don't let them change the subject from the issues that matter.

Yeah you are right dummy the left hasn't really cried racism every time anyone opposed Obama.
There hasn't been a single mention of race until Beck released the doctored audio and video of the noble black panthers saying to kill cracker babies.

2. I can explain it ... and it has been going on since the primaries ...

A classic Rove tactic is to identify your own weakness, and then declare it is actually your strength and your opponent's weakness.

In this case, racism is a GOP weakness. Everyone knows that. So now, with an African American President, the GOP was endanger of having to be on the defensive about race starting in the primaries, and then potentially for the next 4 to 8 years. That would be bad for the GOP.

And so, using Rove's model, you have to make race Obama's weakness. Here's how you do that ...

You start with Rev Wright. You claim he is a racist, and Obama must be too. Not to mention Wright loves the USA
You claim black churches are racist. Not all black churches just the ones who preach hate against crackers
You claim Obama is not American but Kenyan. I claim he isn't American he's a socialist
You claim Obama is a Muslim or Arab (dark skin is dark skin in this game and you already know most Americans think Muslim=Arab). he doesn't recognize the threat of Islam
You claim Michelle Obama is a racist (based on a 25 year old paper she wrote). Yeah cuz an incident 25 years ago doesnt matter unless your name was Bush and you got a DUI 20 years ago
You call a fist bump a "terrorist fist-jab". I know Dummies think a fist is a sign of love
You claim that the "white guilt of liberals" is what got Obama elected. It helped him I'm sure
You claim that 94% of blacks voted for Obama, so they must be racist. No just the ones who hate every Iota of a cracker
You claim ACORN is racist. I dunno if they are racist but they do some shady stuff
You claim Colin Powell is a racist and voted for Obama only because he is black. Nah he just showed he isn't a conservative
You claim Eric Holder is a racist. Tell you what if he prosecutes the black panthers then we will talk
You claim Van Jones is a communist, and a racist. Just because he believes in communism is no reason to point it out
You claim Sonya Sotomayer is a racist.  The wise Latina is a communist no doubt and she has said things that sounded racist
You claim Obama wants to give blacks reparations. He also wants to give dem voters freebies by the truckload and punish the working class
You claim Obama wants to tax rich white people and "redistribute" their money to blacks who are too lazy to work. No he wants to redistribute money to anyone too lazy to work no matter what race
You claim Obama is a "Chicago thug" ... replacement term for "inner city" ... replacement term for N-word. Oh please that is just stupid he does practice Chicago style corruption has nothing to do with race
You claim Obama isn't really black -- he's "halfrican". You guys claimed Powell, Rice and Thomas were house you know whats
You claim Obama is Hitler (and imply Obama will send whites to the gas chambers). You are confusing us with the shit you spewed about Bush
You claim that Obama "hates the white culture". He does hate capitalism
You claim that the NAACP is racist. Only the ones in the group who wanna kill cracker babies and hate every Iota of a cracker
You claim that the Congressional Black Caucus is racist. See above
You claim that you are falsely called a racist any time you respectful disagree with Obama (to mute impact of your actual racist actions). You cry racism so you don't have to debate the actual issue. You are intellectually lazy for doing so
You claim that Obama is trying to destroy the economy to hurt white people. No he is hurting all people
You claim that the New Black panther party is out in force intimidating whites. Yeah screaming cracker at voters outside a polling place is just good natured ribbing
You claim that Sherrod is a racist. She may but in the video the crowd was pleased that she didn't give it her all for the cracker farmer

I'm sure people could add to my list.

The point is that they are definitely using a Rove tactic. They know they are weak on race issues, and so, rather than play defense, they play offense ... attack, attack, attack.

I should point out, this is also a variant on the traditional GOP Southern Strategy ... you do whatever you can, short of using the N-word to remind the racists in the GOP base that "inner-city dead beats" and "welfare queens" are going to be TAKING the hard earned money of rural and middle class white folks.

Oh ... and when caught ... since you never used the n-word, you act surprised whenever you are called out.

I may not lock my doors while sitting at a red light and a black man is near, but I sure as hell grab on tight to my wallet when any democrats are close by.

Libs seem to be stuck on race.  They can't allow themselves to consider that the reason people are going to not add more Dems to the House and Senate in 2010 is because of the policies coming out of the WH.  To them, their lib policies are the answers to all the worlds ills.  So if it isn't policy matters, it has to be for some other reason people would reject voting for the Dems.  They reach into their bag of false stereotypes of their opposition and throw it against the wall hoping something will stick.

Well, the only thing sticking to the wall in 2010 is high unemployment and a bleak outlook of the future if we keep doing the same things we've been doing.  And Dear Leader has clearly stated he's going to keep doing what he's been doing regardless of the effect it has on the average citizen.

They ought to play political ads of "Kill some Cracker babies" sound bit over the video of the same guy standing in front of a polling station with a club.

They ought to play "Gawddamm America" sound bit over a photo of Ombama and Wright together smiling.

They ought to play "I didn't do enough." over pictures of Bill A and Obama fotoshopped in front of a blown up building.

NAACP racist comments, Nation of Islam racist comments, etc etc, all tied into Obama.

End with Obama painting of Barry as Jesus.

Close with: "Is this the change you voted for?"

Typical libs. Since 94 they have been screaming that their message wasn't getting out and that was the reason people didn't vote for them and put them in power.

Well the people finally did.

So what happens? They proceed to defy the will of the people by passing unpopular legislation and now that the people have "heard" their message they are having buyer's remorse and are turning on them en mass. Well it obviously can't be their fault so it is all due to raaaaaaacism!

Typical libs. They just do not get it and now they are running scared so they bring out the race card in hopes that they can stay in power. Methinks they are in for a very rude awakening the morning after election day.

I swear these people couldn't find their ass with both hands, a mirror, directions, and an ass sniffing dog. With them it is always someone's fault other than themselves.

Indeed - I remember Tinoire at DU couldn't call people like Colin & Condi 'House N*****' often enough, since Harry Belefonte did back in '04. Tinoire got away with it by claiming to be black, and then stating its a common term for American blacks to use against black Republicans. The message was black republicans are used by the racist white people..

So,

2004 - if you are white and you like Condi & Colin, you are a racist.
And Today - if you are white and don't like Obama, you are a racist.

You might be a racist if you judge a  person by their character and not their skin color. {/foxworthy]
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
