What's The Difference Between Andrew Breitbart And Dan Rather? Edited on Wed Jul-21-10 11:18 AM by kpeteWhat's The Difference Between Andrew Breitbart And Dan Rather?21 Jul 2010 10:58 amDan Rather made some attempt to get his facts straight. Breitbart made none, in smearing and slandering a black woman. Frum:http://theweek.com/bullpen/column/205190/shirley-sherro... ***** When people talk of the "closing of the conservative mind" this is what they mean: not that conservatives are more narrow-minded than other people — everybody can be narrow minded — but that conservatives have a unique capacity to ignore unwelcome fact. When Dan Rather succumbed to the forged Bush war record hoax in 2004, CBS forced him into retirement. Breitbart is the conservative Dan Rather, but there will be no discredit, no resignation for him. David is particularly acute on how the rightwing blogosphere, realizing they had been snookered, simply shifted their stance to blaming Obama and Vilsack. That was the spin on Morning Joe this morning as well. God, I hate cable news.more:http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/20...

Of course, Breitbart deserves the lion's share of the blame, but shouldn't it be noted that Vilsack and Obama leapt before they looked and acted completely spineless in this regard? Of coure, Breitbart should lose his job over this, maybe more. But why should Vilsack and Obama get a free pass?

Rather didn't create the fake story -- he just bit on it I'm not a frequent adherent to conspiracy-type notions, but I think there's a fair likelihood Rather was set up. His inclinations were known, and the brilliant "detective work" of the right-wing blog debunkers materialized rather instantaneously. Breitbart is not "the conservative Dan Rather." He is a consciously deceptive rightwing hitjob artist who has likely never contributed an honest fact to the public knowledge in his life. Rather had decades of solid journalism under his belt before he proved that the Internet is full of traps for the unwary."conservatives have a unique capacity to ignore unwelcome fact" is a good observation, though it would be more accurate to say that a particular brand of American conservative has simply embraced the conflation of fact and opinion more than most other ideological groups.
"The nation that couldn’t be conquered by foreign enemies has been conquered by its elected officials" odawg Free Republic in reference to the GOP Elites who are no difference than the Democrats
kentuck8. Rather was telling the truth about George W Bush... Breitbart is fabricating. Rather could not prove the validity of a document he reported on. It was never proven that the info was false, as in this case.
