Thanks to Chris, who gave me the idea.
I don't know about anybody else, but when on Skins's island, I've never bothered stoking a bonfire by clicking on a link a primitive has posted, ostensibly the source for the primitive comments.
I've wandered around Skins's island for seven years, and never did that.
I simply took the primitives' word that the link proved what the primitives said it proved.
Yesterday (Saturday), there was an instance where a primitive, the dumb Texan, ostensibly quoted Patrick Buchanan. I didn't even think of checking, but Chris went to the link, only to learn that the dumb Texan had grotesquely distorted what Patrick Buchanan had said.
And then a couple of hours later, I decided to look at a link kindly provided by the cali primitive in one of his Hate screeds; a link which ostensibly "proved" the point the cali primitive was trying to make.
The link did not prove his point at all.
Just before hitting the sack last night, I checked seven original posts by seven different primitives, where the primitives had provided links to a news story "proving" their point. Of those seven, four had little or no relation with what the primitive said it had, one was "iffy," and in two instances, the primitives had accurately matched their bonfires with the actual news stories.
I suspect the primitives have been pulling our legs for a long time.
Of course, the primitives lying about what an article says might not be malicious in nature; after all, the primitives can't help but to lie.
For example, an original post by a primitive might be titled, BUSH PERSECUTING SIEGELMAN, and there's a link to the news story, with a headline reading EX-GOVERNOR OF ALABAMA ROBS BANK AT GUNPOINT IN FRONT OF 342 EYEWITNESSES; TO BE PROSECUTED.
Perhaps in the primitive mind, his title is "proved" by the news story, but decent civilized people might think differently.
I'm going to start checking primitive links more often, to see how great the discrepancy between what a primitive alleges something says, and what it actually says.
I'm speculating more than half the time, the primitive has lied about what's behind the link.
