America's Best Cities for Singles
« on: July 18, 2010, 10:28:20 AM »
Quote
Social media strategist Jani Bowe moved to Chicago from Minneapolis in 2007 and was glad she did. “Before moving to Chicago I wondered where on earth all the 20- to 30-year-olds went, as the dating scene in Minneapolis was extremely thin,” she says. But she found a lot more action in the Windy City. “Chicago is a vibrant, tech-savvy city, and this is where people come to start their careers,” she says. “So many men, so little time!”

Lots of people feel the same way. Chicago came in as the sixth-best U.S. city for singles in the annual America’s Favorite Cities survey, where Travel + Leisure readers rated urban areas on culture, hotels, weather, and even how good-looking the locals are.

Las Vegas is #5 but the locals were rated dead last when it came to smarts.  :evillaugh:

Obviously they haven't tried to talk to someone on South Beach.

Why do I have the feeling that booze and an unlimited number of sex partners was her main criteria for a good city?

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Las Vegas "locals" are not really locals.  Everyone is a transplant for the most part, including myself.  We have a lot of California people who live here.

Are the people who took this study positive they even talked to actual locals?

Screw that. I wouldn't move to Austin (though I'd move to the Austin area.)

Houston would be a possibility though.

Wyoming wouldn't be a good place for singles who are wanting to get paired up.  But, most of the state is a great place for being single.  Being single isn't looked upon as a condition needing to be corrected, in my experience here.  A preference for solitude and independence doesn't trigger accusations of antisocial disorders or deviant sexuality.

I don't think Wyo would stand a chance by their criteria anyway, thank God.
