Last night, I learned first-hand how spineless and pathetic this country has become.
   
My girlfriend and I were out shooting night pictures for one of her school projects. She's a really great photographer and I'm very proud of her. She found a beautiful fountain in an outdoor mall. It was lit up in every color of the rainbow and we were really excited about the shots she was getting, Well you can probably guess where this is going... About 5 minutes into the shoot, a security guard pulls up in her "Smart car" and starts hassling us. "You can't take pictures of blah blah blah 9/11, 9/11, 9/11..."

I'm getting so sick of hearing about 9 ****ing 11 and it still being used as an excuse to curtail our freedoms in this country. The next time I hear someone rattle off "9/11", I'm tempted to put my size 9 shoe 11 inches up their ass.

What a nation of cowards we've become. What a convenient, pathetic excuse to turn everything into this paranoid police state where you're constantly under surveillance. Next thing you know, she wont be able to take pictures of ****ing corn. The Monsanto security guards will come screaming out in the John Deer Gators and run us off like common terrorists.

**** this country, I want out...

6. I wasn't willing to get into a confrontation with the security guard, as I have a really bad temper in conflicts with "authorities". Yeah, I basically hate cops, and I know that it's somewhat of a character flaw. She even showed the security monkey in the clown car her school credentials, but the "officer" kept spouting "9/11, 9/11, 9/11..." So we decided to just leave.

Oh no, you mustn't denigrate your questioning authority instead of promptly surrendering to it. Authoritarianism is the character flaw. It seeks to categorize and subject anyone and anything to its (usually) flawed scheme. It's what conservatives rely on, for in their fear of new ideas that might work better, they hold tighter to old ideas that have been proven false.

11. The mall--whether outdoor or indoor--is probably private property.  I was thrown out of a local mall in 2003 when I was sitting with a group of people planning a house party for Howard Dean. Coincidentally, there was another group who had gathered to walk the mall wearing anti-war t-shirts. One of them came over to talk to us, and soon we were surrounded by security guards. (We were sitting at the food court.) We were all told to leave and escorted out the door.

Funny how the OP DUmmy never seems to remember that 9/11 is the sole excuse they run to right away when bashing the Bush Administration.

Every one of these pricks should donate their brain to science after they die so the people in forensics have a better understanding of INSANITY on all levels. It could really aid in understanding criminals.

This is ironic and hypocritical in the extreme because KV haunts the Gun forum making life miserable for the RKBA'ers.

I guess some rights are more equal than others.

And maybe a lawyer type can slither in and answer this but: I believe that while malls are private property they are considered places of public accomodation, as such the owners are limited to a certain degree as to what they can restrict, i.e. no "whites only" policies. However, as a former restaurant manager I will say that any officer/manager or designated security rep can have anyone removed on a trespass warrant for just about any reason or no reason at all.

Perhaps if the DUmbass had 1) minded his manners rather than acting like a petulant brat and 2) notified the mall in advance there never would have been any hassle but then they wouldn't have any reason to feel persecuted and that would have really ruined his day.

It was probably a year before I returned to shop in that damn place, and if there had been
near by alternatives, I probably still wouldn't be shopping there.

We were pissed. All of us. Sitting quietly, minding our own business, and told to leave.


We don't have town squares anymore. Gathering places are mostly private property and
the owners don't want any hint of difficulty to get in the way of consume, consume, consume.

   and enclosed a copy of the sales receipts for the books I had bought at the Barnes and Noble
and swimsuit at Nordstrom's prior to our meeting. I never got any reply. Nothing.

So you wrote a letter saying you would never shop at the mall again, but you went back to shopping there?

Not sure where this person lives, and since we don't know about all threats that come in, it's possible that threats have been called into Malls in any area of the US, and maybe they were told to implement security precautions but to not scare the public and tell them that.

Its possible - at this time of year, it gets late before it gets really dark - so, they may have been on mall property after closing, casing the place with a camera..

If this is the missing piece of data from the Primitives bouncy, the rest of the story makes sense.

Can the Op be really that dense? Between 9/11 and who knows how may mall shootings that have happened that last thing anyone in charge of a mall or building wants is some tool taking pictures regardless of the reason without asking permission first. I see this almost once a week if not more near the airport in Omaha. They have a policy now that if your out on the road stopped near the airport for any reason the Airport Police have to be called to check it out no matter how long it is. 99% of the time its going to be ma and pa kettle waiting to see the kids come in or take off but it doesn't matter. The land the airport sits on includes the road going around it and all the way to the river which sits barely 25 feet off to the side and meets the state line. I don't feel sorry for these people one bit. Private proprety is still that even for a mall or any business, you get asked to leave for any good reason you better do it or face the consequences.

The Orlando airport has a service road next to the toll road that runs across the end of the western runway. They come in low because the airport owns all the land out a ways from the end of the runway. They bought out all the property after they dropped a plane into the nearest subdivision back in the 60's. It used to be a popular locals tourist attraction of it's own because people would come hang out watching planes come in overhead. They had pull-offs, parking areas and multiple trash cans with city pickup. It may as well have been a park. 9/11 killed all that.
