Dick Cheney Likely Has End-Stage Heart Disease

Former Vice President Dick Cheney, 69, who underwent surgery last week to implant a pump to assist his heart, may be only one step away from a heart transplant, according to cardiac experts. They say he could find himself on a wait list for "months or years."

Cardiologists say the former vice president has a left ventricular assist device (LVAD), which is often used as a so-called "destination" or permanent device, but in his case is likely a "bridge" that will keep him alive until he can receive a transplant.

The device is implanted next to the heart to help its main pumping chamber, the left ventricle, pump blood through the body. Such devices are used mainly for short periods, to buy potential transplant candidates time as they await a donor organ.

"It's a really good strategy," said Dr. William Abraham, director of the division of cardiovascular medicine at Ohio State University, which does 75 to 100 implantations a year.

But if they decide to do a heart transplant, what type of donor will they seek? A skunk, a snake, what would be close enough for his body to accept? I mean, I don't slime molds have hearts, so the donor would have to be something less similar to Cheney.

Not Vice President Cheney nor President Bush for that matter. That honor is saved for the democrat party leaders.

30. Even if they get a heart for Dick it doesn't mean he will live any longer .....
   
.... it will be very hard to find vessels that will be able to be used to reconnect
his heart to ..... odds are pretty good that he would die on the operating table.

Better yet, save your pity for someone who needs it or wants it. I suspect, though, that if Dick Cheney were aware of your wretched existence, nivad, he'd pity you. And he'd probably even forgive you your utterly ignorant, hate-maddened attitude toward him, although he wouldn't (and rightly so)  forgive your daily betrayal of the United States.

Why would a lack of conscience have been necessary for Dick Cheney, a great man, dedicated public servant, and one of the last real statesmen, to have been the superb SecDef he was, superb Vice President he was, and America-loving patriot he is who has done a tremendous amount of nearly 100% unadulterated good for his country, up to and including the protection of you and your fellow ungrateful domestic enemies of the U.S. from vicious foreign enemies?

If it turns out Cheney does get a replacement heart - it would be a hoot if it turns out the donor was a power liberal in life. - the bits of grey matter everywhere would make the streets and sidewalks too slippery to walk on until the birds and rats clean up the mess.
