Me, the blender, the store, and the uninvited stickers.

So I go buy a blender at a very known, very busy retail store. I choose the product, get a piece of printed paper (invoice?) and get in line to pay. Besides the line is the stereos rack. While I wait, I check the stereos out. Then I notice a small sticker on the shelf. It says "VOTE FOR PARTY XYZ".

So, obviously somebody saw fit to use shelf space of a place that isn't theirs to peddle their propaganda. I find that rude. I took off the sticker. Thankfully, the adhesive wasn't that strong and the shelf remained clean.

Was that too "Monk" of my part?

9. OK, gotta come clean. Drag from the first to the last word of the OP so you see the "white text"

Okay, so franksolich did that, and got this:

Then I notice a small sticker on the shelf. It says "VOTE FOR PARTY XYZ". Not actually. It says "READ THE BIBLE".

I'm glad they're putting those up everywhere....more division, more hate, more everything bad......can't help but hurt the leftist.

When Sarah Palin's book came out, I saw a bunch that had been turned upside down at the bookstore.  And the last time I went to the bookstore, I saw that somebody thought it would be clever to move a couple bibles to the "Fantasy" section  ::)

I love that he lied about what the sticker actual said.  Why do the big deal invisible text over it?

Now I believe the bookstore stuff, CR.  I've heard that enough from both sides that it must actually happen.  It's just all the other supposed crap that happens to them that strains believability.

I was in the checkout line last week in a Fred Meyers behind a 30-something year-old lady that must have weighed 400+ pounds. Her shopping cart was full of "meal-in-a-box" garbage and junk food. She was wearing a 48XXXXXXXX 0bama t-shirt from the '08 election. She paid using an Oregon Trail card. That is the state of Oregon welfare debit card. I said nothing. I did nothing. I paid for my purchase (VRWC Retail Recon Kit) then left.

Two days later I am in the mall at the local Barnes & Nobel. Saw all kinds of books there - even a 0bama book. I bought two books, (VRWC Scare Tactics & A DUmmys Guide to Remote Viewing), left the establishment without making hay or disturbing the establishment's inventory.

Obviously, there is something wrong with me...

Pretty much what it's like going to Freddies in Eugene. They're either granola-brained or the size of a bison. Walmart parking lot is even more entertaining. We can't even buy VRCW supplies in Eugene.

I know I am not Sparky, but is this the story you are talking about?

Over 5,000 anti-school bookmarks found in books at libraries in Dover, Portsmouth, Durham

Thank you Duke, you made my day.

This is an interesting concept, how much time and man power went into placing 5,000 book marks in all those library's ??

The cost to have them printed must be substantial not to mention the planning behind all this.

One must add in the time the volunteers at the library's had to spend to find 5,000 of them---and who knows they may have missed a couple thousand more.

Most creative, aimed at readers, not the TV addicts that never crack a book. The target of who ever pulled this off was of a single group of people that use and appreciate the library, the people that enjoy learning and flights of fancy.

I am not too sure of what the message is that they wanted to send, but the shear stunt of pulling this off is quite intriguing.

Book stores have security, the idea of hitting library's  makes me think of the University of New Hampshire and some students going into creative advertising.

A +++++++ for the kids.

Zeit, I am trying to think  where the boundary's for North P-town are.

Are you speaking of the public housing across from the Mall?

I did notice that in the police reports in the paper  the homeless shelter is now not given an address, few will donate to a shelter when half the police calls for the town take place there.  Just a simple terse sentence that says a call was placed for the police to come pick up a person from a residence on Lafayette RD

The housing behind the shelter is another hot spot, residents of the shelter will go there into back yards and do their drugs and drink their Thunder Chicken.

Then down town we have the rooming house that has been renovated from squalor to reasonable clean rooms,  they do no background checks at all on the residents.
As long as the residents can come up with almost $200.00 a week for a bedroom willing to use a common  bathroom and have no visitors, they are allowed to have small refrigerators and a microwave and TV in their rooms.

Hot spots in P-Town not allot but most of the Porno comes from those that have a home and money in the bank. The last person one would expect, a lawyer, doctor, dentist and or their college educated kids.

Some times people of prominent standing in the comunity get caught but as in the case of Kittery and the health Spa that operated for over 20 years in a very small town their down fall comes to kids used for sex tapes and or prostitution.

Myself, I would prefer to have a raving drug addict as a neighbor who at 12:01 am fires off a shot gun in his back yard then to live next to a sober, moneyed person, deacon at the Church that deals in Kiddie Porn.

Replacing DVDs of gay porn for children's movies or the ageing population would only cause even more problems for the gay comunity, outrage in the comunity and  cause a backlash that would lead to more problems then one can imagine.

One cannot equate the work of placing a book mark in 5,000 library books with gay porn.

Darn it Zeit, I refuse to PM you to find out who you are and how you know me.

More fun this way, not knowing who you are and if indeed we do know each other.

Please don't give up any information on who you are, much better for me to be able to write to the unknown then to someone I know, stay anonymous if you can, just don't give away too much information as If I knew who  you are I would censor my posts so as not to offend you.

Vesta:

The Danish Health Spa was the best kept secret for years. NOT.  I would get questions from 'crews' from the West Coast who had heard of the place. Not saying guys on the road frequented that type of establishment (wink, wink).  Many, mainly from the PacNW, but sometimes from SC, wanted to go to the Hampton Casino to GAMBLE, although why they thought it had gambling I have no idea.  I would generally send them to Foxwood or Mohegan Sun, they were always surprised to find it was three hours away.

Why should anyone at Brewster Street Rooming House have to have a background check?  Should someone staying at the Sheraton have one?  (Um, actually may be they should if you check Police Logs ). Then too, what do you know about the Green Door, is it still in business??  Dang people need more to do around here in the winter I guess.

Perverts?  Yep. You are right.  Very upright citizen was nabbed for kiddie porn when he took his machine in to the repair shop that had also been an Internet porn site.  Even porn site owners have standards which they won't violate.

Seriously, which do you think would make a bigger stir at the Portsmouth Library, a guerrilla campaign of gay porn or partial birth abortion?  My guess?  Partial birth.  The gay porn would be barely raise an eyebrow and in many cases be copied or renewed. :lmao:

Drunks are never fun to live next door to. Drunks with shot guns could be fatal.  You would be amazed the size hole double aught buck can make it the side of a manufactured housing unit.

The homeless shelter attracts trouble like sugar attracts ants.   Families in distress? Yes.  Drunken bums and loafers?  Nope. Give them a night at county. Then put them to work cleaning the road side, or splitting wood for the widows and orhpans.    That should cut down on recidivism.  :hammer:

I don't remember attending any submarine races at the Nubble with girls from the River Styx and will deny any and all accusations alleging the same. :naughty:

I know nothing lately about JOE'S BLUE Door, the owner must be close to 80 years old and getting too old to climb up on the trapease in the bedroom.  It has been a few years since I have seen him or his family but everyone like old man.-----UNTILL you got on his bad side and then he is or was Hell on wheels.

Sorry for the mix up on P-Town, I had no idea about the other one.  Thanks for the warning.

You know ZEIT I have no problem when a waitress flirts with Hubby---I do draw the line when a Waiter insists on tucking the napkin in his lap.

What a shame that the Submarine Races at the light house were canciled when the new generarion are out there huffing and puffing today.

A good number of anti-theists are just as bad, if not worse than the Islamic hardliners. The merest suggestion that someone might have an alternate or opposing point of view sends them into hysterics.
