THis just cracks me up "friends" who can dish it out but cant take it!

I have friends I have known for over 20 years. They are even Godparents to one of my daughters. AND they are REPUBLICANS to the extreme. Ever since President Obama was elected I started getting these Liberals are Traitors, Christians wrote the constitution bullshit inflammatory e-mails. They know my political feelings WHICH I NEVER bring up and only discuss when they start the conversation.

So I ignored and deleted and ignored and deleted until finally there was one that was so bad that I went to Snopes.com, got the info debunking it did a reply all and said, "Please do a little research before forwarding inaccurate and divisive e-mails that incite violence and please don't send any more of them to me."

Well the next week my "friend" forwards this stupid "cute puppy Jesus loves us all" thing that has NO mention of liberals or anyone being bad at the bottom says IF YOU DON"T WANT TO READ THIS JUST DELETE IT.

So I e-mailed her back and said. "I don't mind if you send something like this to me (even though they make me gag, I was making a point) I just find it offensive when you send me things that perpetuate the lie that people who believe as I do are somehow less American than you are. I'm sorry if you felt I was harsh.

Well, I haven't heard from her since. So I just figured she needed cool off time. I mean we have this friendship that has been forever! She was in my wedding, was at the hospital when my kids were born was the one friend who was there the day my mother died, she was the only one I would see when I was going through cancer. I mean this is not some little silly casual friendship.

So I invited her and her family to my oldest daughter's 15th birthday party and they aren't coming. They have NEVER missed it in the past. And when she cant come she always calls or e-mails and lets me know what is going on and this time NOTHING. So I get what is going on.

What the hell! I mean SERIOUSLY?

So I am going to let the friendship die because if that is all it took then that is just too bad. It really bothers me and saddens me though.

But where the hell to these people get off that they can be as insulting as they want repeatedly but when you push back even just a little they are SO INCREDIBLY OFFENDED?????

11. Same thing happened to me

Only it was my sister. She kept sending me the right-wing propaganda emails. I ignored most but couldn't ignore the one she "accidentally" copied me on one that was only supposed to go to her "group think" friends, calling liberals the scum of the earth and Obama the most corrupt politician ever. I replied all and attached the "Now you get mad" list of Bushes crimes. She then proceeded to tell me that I hate her (don't) and that I am no longer her sister. I haven't heard from her since.

They just cannot stand anyone questioning them or even trying to have a civil debate.

60. I'm on the verge of losing a longtime friend over politics as well

He's the only Conservative in my (very) politically aware circle of friends. And when we all get together we talk politics - the latest we saw on Maddow, SB1070, whatever. It's what we do. Well, he's decided that talking politics with people you disagree with is the ultimate in rude behavior, he shouldn't have to be treated to our opinions in a social situation. So he's now making a point of being insulting, abrasive and downright racist on any political discussion on my Facebook. Of course once he's called on it, it's always, "You PC liberals, you can't take a joke."

My wife has already decided he's not allowed in our house anymore, and I honestly can say I don't disagree with her on the call - I don't have the patience to put up with his BS anymore. We've been friends for almost 35 years and he's swallowed the Tea Party line completely. It's a shame.

39. my story

I have a friend for over 20 years that all of a sudden started sending me the snarky anti everything e-mails. I ignored the first few, but one was so outrageous, that I replied with facts, links then associated the claims it was making to her own life. I never once stopped asking her to sending them to me. As a matter of fact, I asked her to keep sending them to me, so I could reply. From then on I replied to each and everyone with facts, links and how the truth would effect her in a positive manner. She stopped sending them to me on her own.

As an example one was about the "welfare queen" myth. Because I have known her for so long, I know for a fact that she has received welfare benefits occasionally. Her daughter was on them at the time. I simply asked her how it felt knowing that is how other people viewed them while they were on the benefits. I really thought it was the end of our friendship.

I think she got the message and stopped forwarding them altogether. I still get the cute puppy types from her.

61. It's why I refuse to join Facebook

I don't want to know how many of my friends have become right-wing assholes.

I was in an e-mail circle with some folks from college. One of my friends had become born again, after she got married and had a kid. In college, this girl was drunk all the time, had a new man (or men) every other night it seemed, and finally we had to stage an intervention before she flunked out or worse. She shaped up and graduated on-time, but there was none of this "God saved me" stuff at the time. Suddenly she started sending us e-mails about how becoming a Christian was the only way to be saved and how her life was a mess until she found Jesus.

We noticed she added her husband and in-laws to the circle (it supposed to be just people who all knew one another, no outsiders), almost like she was putting on a show for them. She also started the political bullshit during the '04 campaign, which we had all agreed to avoid after 2000. One of my other friends finally called her out after a particularly self-righteous rant, simply saying there was no mention of God or Christ "that night we found you on the pay phone" (an allusion to the intervention) which I'm sure her husband or in-laws wouldn't get.

She flipped out, saying this is why Christians and Republicans feel persecuted in this world, because liberals are cynical heartless monsters and that she felt sorry for all of us who were going to suffer in hell. That was the last we heard from her.

70. Pretty much the exact thing happened to me recently.

My cousin, who is a fundie, keeps sending me these outrageous emails, which I mostly just delete (after gagging.) The last one was about how Obama was secretly a Muslim and he wants to turn us all into Muslims.  I replied to all. I was very polite, sent a Snopes link, etc. Now I don't hear from her, EVER. She's always known our whole family is liberal, we just tried not to go there in the past. I never sent her any political email, not even back in the Bush days, because I know she's firmly on the whacka-doo side of the political aisle, so why does she think she can send that stuff to me repeatedly? It's just downright rude. I'm sorry to hear your friends blew you off after insulting you with the email, but it doesn't really surprise me. Republicans have really gone off the deep end these days.

Oh dear.

We all have stories, in real life I knew a few people who voted for Obama, they spouted off like you wouldn't believe, and now they're strangely silent when it comes to politics, their silence=Obama is really screwing things up. As for online? I was friends with a lot of people on boards UNTIL I had the nerve to express my opinion, boy did the lefties do a 180, talk about intolerance, the left needs to look at itself.

Good God! You dysfunctional haters, with your dope-addled little minds, would rape your own mother over your love of the Jug-Eared-Kenyan and commie politics.

Yea - that is why the DUmp is such an open "big-tent" place for all political persuasions to post at.

Me suspects that the roles are reversed in this fable.
When you are the beneficiary of someone’s kindness and generosity, it produces a sense of gratitude and community.

When you are the beneficiary of a policy that steals from someone and gives it to you in return for your vote, it produces a sense of entitlement and dependency.
