Jan Brewer blasts boycott, says U.S. has her back

Embattled Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer blasted Boston politicians yesterday for boycotting her state after her controversial illegal immigration crackdown, even as she drew support from fellow Republicans at a Hub-hosted governors’ convention.

“I’m an elected official and have been for 28 years and I’ve never called on anyone to boycott any city or any state. I think it really harms the people that are out there trying to do work and trying to do their jobs,” said Brewer, who’s been under siege since she signed legislation in May allowing police to check immigration status of Arizona residents.

“I think the majority of America is in agreement with what we’re trying to do in Arizona,” she added.

Boston city councilors voted to cut off business with Arizona shortly after Brewer signed the immigration bill, which goes into effect July 29. Mayor Thomas M. Menino gave the shutout his thumbs up and even investigated halting city contracts with Arizona businesses.

“It’s ill advised and it’s ill conceived,” Rhode Island Gov. Donald Carcieri, a Republican, said of the boycott. “I told her I think she’s doing a great job.”

Should I ever have need or want to leave New Hampshire, Arizona will be the first place I look to move.

But, under the name of ‘liberalism’, they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened.” - Norman Thomas, U.S. Socialist Party presidential candidate 1940, 1944 and 1948

Lots of luck on that one Johnny, there is no where we can escape civilization and all that goes with it.

There is the fun idea of heading out into the wilds, building a log cabin and hunting for food, starting a small garden and spending a couple years away from the insanity the world.

This just will  not work in todays world unless one wants to die young.
