American History, I showed a video bio of Reagan written by Garry Wills. That song was in it. I told the kids I had to leave the room or flash my hash. I told them it was like "Achy Breaky Heart" to me. They understood.

At that point you should have been terminated as you are not a teacher but a propagandist.

Charlie Daniels (Parasite-Nashville) claims America to be a dictatorship.

http://www.theboot.com/2010/03/25/charlie-daniels-healt... /

"We no longer have a representative government; we essentially have a dictatorship that is willing to force their will on us regardless of what we want," he says in a March 22 post on his website's "Soapbox and Message Board" titled 'Black Monday.' "This is the most despicable act ever perpetrated on the American public by the most dishonorable congress we've ever had.""

Where was this no-talent when Bush pissed on the constitution?

Charlie has had a conservative blog for some time, and he is more conservative than republican.

Of interesting note from this thread.:

Hearing that song makes me want to jump off the nearest bridge.

Another of my "If I were rich" moments....I'd buy up all the radio stations and that's the only song we would play 24/7/365....and every 15 minutes we would break for the directions to the nearest bridge.

I knew what song it was as soon as I read the title.

It has everything they hate in it, family, USA, honoring those who fought for their rights, God.
It's all in there.

The first verse..

"If tomorrow all the things were gone,
I’d worked for all my life.
And I had to start again,
with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars,
to be livin here today".

If I lost everything .. I wouldn't whine, I wouldn't demand.
The author claiming that he has what he has because he worked for it.  If he lost it he'd just start over and work some more.  What a horrible, horrible attitude!

What a great thread!!

32. I agree the Republic minority in the Senate is undemocratically dictating to our country!

Thank you Charlie Daniels for pointing this out... wait you meant the Democrats that won overwhelmingly in two popular elections in a row yet have trouble passing through Republican filibusters in the senate are a dictatorship? That's weaker than a Charlie Daniels Gospel album.

The Dems have the WH and the majority in the House and Senate, but you're blaming Republican filibusters which happen practically never??  Talk about weak....

65. Does anybody know where he is now? Gitmo? Summarily executed?

I'd say that the fact that the Republican Party has NOT been outlawed (yet), that the Tea Partiers/Militia members have NOT been disarmed, rounded up, and placed in all of those secret (whoops!) FEMA-UN concentration camps, and Rupert Murdoch and his Fox News staff have NOT been deported and/or executed kinda undercuts Daniels' argument, doesn't it? I mean, in a REAL dictatorship, dictators don't typically let their "subjects" get away with being all mouthy and rebellious like that and they've all been proudly oppositional (and obstructionist) towards President Obama since his inauguration and, so far, I haven't seen any (real) evidence of the kind of repression that Daniels is suggesting exists here in the US right now. Of course, it's very likely that Daniels' just doesn't know what the hell he's really talking about either.

Did you make this post during the years of 2001-2009 when your fellow primitives were making these claims?  No.  Why?  Because you're a hypocrite.

I'm not all that nuts about it myself, but a lot of people love the song and it doesn't bother me, so I enjoy their enjoynmebt of it instead of the song itself.  I'd just rather hear something else, like one of the versions of the armed forces medley that has all of them including the Coasties' Semper Paratus in it, or traditional marches like Garry Owen or Semper Fidelis.

LOL, you have to listen to the lyrics to really appreciate it:

Courtesy of the Red White and Blue:

(The Angry American)

American girls and American guys, will always stand up and salute.
We'll always recognize, when we see ol' glory flying,
There's a lot of men dead,
So we can sleep in peace at night when we lay down our heads.
My daddy served in the army where he lost his right eye,
But he flew a flag out in our yard 'til the day that he died.
He wanted my mother, my brother, my sister and me.
To grow up and live happy in the land of the free.

Now this nation that I love is fallin' under attack.
A mighty sucker-punch came flying in from somewhere in the back.
Soon as we could see clearly through our big black eye,
Man, we lit up your world like the fourth of July.

Hey, Uncle Sam put your name at the top of his list,
And the Statue of Liberty started shaking her fist.
And the eagle will fly and it's gonna be hell,
When you hear Mother Freedom start ringing her bell.
And it'll feel like the whole wide world is raining down on you.
Ah, brought to you, courtesy of the red, white and blue.

Oh, justice will be served and the battle will rage:
This big dog will fight when you rattle his cage.
An' you'll be sorry that you messed with the U.S. of A.
'Cos we'll put a boot in your ass, it's the American way.

Oh, oh.
Of the red, white and blue.
Oh, hey, oh.
Of my Red, White and Blue.

That Ain't My America Lyrics:

Sometimes I wanna light up underneath the no-smoking sign
Sometimes I wish they'd tell me, how justice got so blind
I wish they'd just leave me alone 'cause I'm doing alright
You can take your change on down the road and leave me here with mine

'Cause that ain't my America
That aint this country's roots
You wanna slam old Uncle Sam
But I ain't letting you
I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue
That ain't us
That Ain't My America

I was standing there in Dallas
Waitin on a plane
I overheard an old man
Tell a young soldier "thanks"
The young soldier hung his head and said "it's hard to believe
You're the only one who took the time to say a word to me"
And the old man said...

That ain't my America
That aint this country's roots
You wanna slam old Uncle Sam
But I ain't letting you
I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue
That ain't us
That Ain't My America

It's to the women and men who in their hands hold a Bible and a gun
And they ain't afraid of nothing, when when they're holding either one

Now there's kids who can't pray in school
$100 dollar tanks of gas
I can tell you right now this country ain't
AIN'T SUPPOSED TO BE LIKE THAT!

NO!

'Cause that ain't my America
That aint this country's roots
You wanna slam old Uncle Sam
But I ain't letting you
I'm mad as hell and you know I still bleed Red, White, and Blue
That ain't us
That Ain't My
That Ain't My America
That Ain't My America
That Ain't My America

A lot of bluegrass, especially the "old time" music style, has patriotic lyrics, such as "Freedom Bell", by The Country Gentlemen. Bluegrass is the best for listening when you need to restore your faith in integrity. It also has cool songs like "The Awful Dreadful Snake"

Concerning "Wildfire," the cheesy song...the writer of the lyrics is a dumbass.  He thinks "killing frost" is something you could get lost and die in, rather than what it really is, a warning to cover your tomatoes.  Anybody who dies during a killing frost would die in July as well.

I remember our boy Cujo thought Lee Greenwood was a Canadian.

Until I showed him that he was born and raised in (get ready, kids):

SOUTH GATE, CALIFORNIA.  Hey, it used to be a white middle-class suburb at one time, anyway, until the federal government stopped giving a shit about controlling our borders.

I still don't think he believes it.  Maybe he's still sitting in his house, screaming at his neighbors for throwing leaves in his yard, the poor dumb bastard.
