MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The Wisconsin Supreme Court has upheld the state’s constitutional ban on gay marriage and civil unions.

In a 7-0 ruling, the court on Wednesday ruled that the 2006 constitutional amendment was properly put to voters in a statewide referendum.

The court rejected a lawsuit that claimed the amendment violated a rule that limits referendum questions to a single subject. The lawsuit, filed by a voter opposed to the amendment, argued that gay marriage and civil unions were two different subjects.

Justice Michael Gableman says both sentences “carry out the same general purpose of preserving the legal status of marriage in Wisconsin as between only one man and one woman.”

We win one and in WI of all places.
Come to think of it, unions do create jobs. Companies have to hire two workers to do the work of one.

Uh oh - I just saw that Obama is speaking in Wisconsin right now to try to convince the chosen people in the audience that everything's A-OK.

I wonder if he will criticize the WI supreme court for their decision.

God, I have to change the channel - I cannot stand to listen to him or look at him.

I just heard he said "We tried the other side's way, and it wasn't working".

Holy crap! Just what has his way accomplished other than sending us all to the poor house?

He just makes me sick and I'm tired of hearing him lie and blame other people and act so effing arrogant.  At this point, it really doesn't matter what George Bush did or didn't do - he's used that as an excuse to institute his socialist utopia and anyone in this world who believes he doesn't have sinister motives is a DUmmie.

Sorry to hijack your thread, Tucker, to complain about our idiot-in-chief.

He's having a Town Hall meeting regarding the Economy.  Wisconsin has a 15% unemployement rate.  I wonder how it will go? :evillaugh:

Wish I wasn't part of that 15%

Obama is indeed speaking/spoke in Racine. It's all the rage on the radio here. I couldn't give two shits less. Does anybody else just get SICK to damn death of hearing the man speak?? Every other word is a lie. I'm starting to believe the slogan from T2 for crying out loud. "The future is not set." Of course that's true, but it's getting even more factual by the week. My head spins. I fear for this country the longer this man's administration strings along.

Sorry. Rant over.

THANK YOU for what you do!

Any idea why Racine? I know Case-New Holland is there, but what else? Is it mostly MFG?

I've been trying to sell my house for two years now. I need to get back to TN. Unemployment here in MI is 20%.

I'm not up to date on enemployment in MI, but I'd hazard a guess it's higher in Detroit than in Michigan as a whole state.

And I've no idea why Racine, bkg. He could have gone to Milwaukee or the Mad City if he wanted to be around his bots.

Yeah - I would have suspected Madison as well. Seems odd.

I'm just north of Madison. It's probably pretty high there, but I can almost guarentee, without even knowing, that unemployment in my small town is above the state (15%) unemployment.

Could anyone provide a list of state by state unemployment rates that are as recent as possible? I've been scouring the net, but can't find a list. All I'm getting is the same claptrap about how it's actually become better state by state from .gov sites.

I'm in Texas and things are downright rosy here compared to the rest of the country but if Obama has his way, he'll bring us down to match the rest of the country.

I cannot stand to hear his voice and look at his face - unless it's the picture with the fly on his lip.

Remember that those figures are based on the number of open claims. It doesn't count those whose benefits have expired and are collecting nothing.

Not sure about welfare and how those deadbeats are figured in.

Yup, I know...that's why you should add 5-6% to those numbers to get the actual figure.

Wow. Based on that, Nevada was 19% last month. They look like they're hurting as much as Michigan from the month of May. (I added 5%)
