Quote
Here is audio from an open mic live video feed that catches some reporters present at a Sarah Palin speech at California State University openly mocking her after she had finished her address. You can hear reporters talking about writing their stories about her speech, saying “She didn’t finish a statement.” Another responded, “Did she make a statement?”

The media bias we already know is there can’t help but burst fully into the open once in awhile. But, then, these guys did not know they were on mic. This, we can presume, is how they talk about Palin and other conservatives on a regular basis, because this is what is in their hearts.

Without an additional feed to the speech, I'm not sure we can really place any context to the reporters comments.

Thanks for the link.  You're right, the audio is rather awful.  I made it about four minutes before deciding to give up on it.

Technical note regarding Palin speeches and events:  The majority of her speaking engagements are paid events, and the press is generally not encouraged to attend (although they are not barred from attending).

As a result, there are no "pool" video and audio feeds (directly from the podium mic) provided by the event for the press.  They are free to record the event, but are stuck with video and audio from the room environment that the speech is held in.

Hence the "less than broadcast quality" video and audio......

I have to admit, the media is going to have a TREMENDOUS resurgence once we take back the Congress with significant numbers. They are going to have to do exactly what these yahoos in the video did, times 200. This will be interesting to see how the media realigns after the election. As long as the candidates nee electees maintain their commitment to Constitutional authority and ignore the state run media, the reporters will be in koo-koo land for a long time.

Sorry, GOP, I don't see the media "realigning" toward the right one iota.

Not as long as you've got liberal journalism schools such as one finds in Columbia, MO, spewing out their "product".

Should the GOP take back a majority in both houses of Congress (a significant achievement - even a very difficult one), I think you're going to see the media entrench even further in their left-wing slant and they'll be hunting for "elephant" at every single opportunity. The media are relentless and they will not be happy until current status quo is achieved again.

We'd have better luck of that happening if we fired the whole lot of them and picked random people off the streets.  Probably get better results, too.

But if the GOP takes over Congress, than won't they be in charge of the state run media?   :-)

That was supposedly the case in 1994, and we all know how that turned out.

Euph, I agree with your view on the media.  The only way, IMHO, that the media changes its slant is if a whole bunch of them wind up having their lives threatened (and some of them actually lose their lives) at the hands of an angry populace, who is sick and tired of being told that they are stupid and backwards hicks by said media.  Every day that they belittle the Right (and good and decent people in this country) brings us closer to that happening.

However, I do see huge, unprecedented gains for the Republicans this election.  Both houses of Congress will fall.

That's a nice way of saying they have a high opion of themselves.....as they continue to sink lower and lower....to a point several notches below "Honest" Bill the bling wearing, open shirted, hairy chested used car salesman with the jet black Elvis haircut.

Actually, the (sort of) free market is having a severe impact on the MSM as we speak.......most of the major print media is on financial life support, and shedding jobs and costs in an attempt to stay afloat, both circulation and advertising revenue continue to decline, with no real end in sight.  The three major broadcast networks are losing truckloads of money, particularly their news organizations, and are being pressured by their corporate ownership (GE, et al) to either become profitable, or start cutting.  On the cable side, the only profitable organization is Murdock's group, which includes some newspapers, which are marginally hanging in there (I'm surprised that he hasn't dumped them yet).

Overall, we are seeing a slow gradual shift in the manner in which the news is disseminated in the US today.......its been happening for a while now, and will continue to accelerate as time goes on, as the economy fails to recover.

Whether the journalism schools are turning out legions of liberal robots becomes of little consequence if the bulk of them end up flipping burgers at McDonald's, or doing obits and High School sports at the "Weed City Weekly".

I didn't say the media itself was going to realign to the right. I said that with a conservative Congress, the media will have a resurgence because now they will have over 200 more targets to go over, get misquotes, etc. Of COURSE the media koo koos will use their Columbia-communist media training as much as possible.

There is a difference between a state run media and a state compliant media.

One of the nauseating things about living in virtually any area is the quality (or lack thereof) and the presence of local news and the newscasters that bray the nonsense they bray. (Mrs. E, for one, seems transfixed by local news - I've never been able to understand that.)

I'd suggest that a fair amount of public opinion is swayed by these upstarts - many of them being young - in the journalism profession. Not surprisingly, many of these talking heads do a fabulous job commenting toward AP's (and other moonbat sources') "news", thereby "validating" it.

I agree with the premise that journalism itself is changing - but that applies strictly to the medium, not necessarily to those who go into it.

The U of Missouri has a moonbat School of Journalism. The evidence of that in Columbia, MO, is overwhelming. Granted, some of these moonbats adhere to their calling to the point that they'll never make it out of Mommy's basement, but a disturbing number of these critters find themselves doing local news - where a great deal of damage is done in swaying public opinion.
