One Area We Need to Push/Support Obama...

...Afghanistan.

He campaigned on it but he is blowing it.

So many have given so much to fight that war and if we lose it not only will we have allowed the perpetrators of 9/11 to walk away we will have shown that once again the US may not fight a protracted war, Iraq being a fluke, but Vietnam being the norm.

Karzai is of dubious value but if A-stan can be stabilized then its government can be reformed. The same cannot be said of a Taliban beholden government.

Add in the reports of the mineral finds and you have China with its Pakistani lackeys putting India off-balance and an Iranian regime crowing about US impotence if not openly bragging they lent a hand to the Taliban.

Too many US kids have been mutilated by those savages to allow their sacrifices to go unrealized. Too many Americans died on their own soil to just walk away.

Yet, that is what we're going to start doing next summer.

I have no faith in Obama's intentions or his ability to learn from his mistakes but if we don't try, who will? DU?

So...

...the war is going great under expert management and nobody here is worried?

Guess what kiddies? The dems are holding war funding hostage to Meidcare and teacher union payoffs:

Quote
Talks were under way Tuesday to extricate the administration by coming up with offsets to pay for new education assistance to avert teacher layoffs this fall. At the same time, renewed efforts began to salvage a $24 billion package of state Medicaid assistance, even if it means paring back a proposed 18-month fix of Medicare reimbursements for physicians.

The backdrop in both cases is a Saturday night letter from Obama calling for action on education and Medicaid assistance but giving no direction on how to pay for them — or how to win support in a deficit-conscious Congress. Leaked in advance to the Sunday newspapers, the letter caught party leaders by surprise, and with Obama largely absent from both fights to date, it was widely seen by Democrats as more political showmanship at their expense by the administration.

...

Obey has been central to the fight over education aid and, in an interview, drew a direct link between war funding and progress on domestic priorities.

He said he would withhold action on the war funds until there was some resolution on a major economic relief bill extending jobless benefits for the long-term unemployed and popular tax breaks for individuals and businesses.

Do you really want to cede this issue to the dems?

If we did it the right way it wouldn't be a protracted war.

Obey holds true to his threat of holding back on war funding then his political suicide will follow every other putz who signs onto that (whose seat is up in November).

Never ever mix war funding denials with elections....... the Republicans will eat you alive, and you'll be thankful they finished you off before the tea party finds you.
