Was my dad right on this dispute? Here's the story..
Today, my dad and I went to the baseball game in downtown Denver. Downtown Denver has free Sunday street parking, so my dad was very stubborn, despite my offer to pay for lot parking (usually about $10), and finally finds a spot not less than 2 blocks from the field.

My dad proceeds to stand by the car (and wait for the spot to be open) and wait patiently. Suddenly, this Audi pulls out of the middle lane ... The guy suddenly backs up the to the (now) open parking spot, the passenger jumps out, walks by my dad's car, blocking us from proceeding to the open spot.

My dad, angry at the person for suddenly trying to steal the parking spot, nudged the passenger out of the way by moving ever so-slowly, literally pushing the passenger out of the way (with his car, no less - and very carefully). The (understandably) angry passenger yelled at my dad - declaring that the parking spot was his. My dad disagreed, and offered a simple compromise - a flip of the coin. Heads, we lose or tails, we get the spot.

Tails came up, and the passenger walked back to his car. The driver, angry, threatened to damage my dad's car. Dad tells me to jot down the license plate - I inputted it on my blackberry.... We go enjoy the game... We return to our car, find my dad's hood keyed in with the word "FU".

Dad calls the police - not much they could do...My dad wants them to face charges of vandalism and property damage. Was he in the right or not? We are pretty sure that the downtown area has video, and the police will be checking into that for us.

2. Your dad lost the moment he used his car to push a human being over a parking spot.

I think that's the response of 2/3 of them, but here's a charming person:

10. Here's what I would have done
Let the asshole have his parking spot, without saying a word or even letting them know you exist, then go buy a large milkshake and pour it all over the front of the windshield and into the car if possible - but it's important to put it all over the windshield so that it dries and they can't drive it. I have actually done this (with a Jamba Juice smoothie) to some nitwit woman who zoomed into the parking space I was about to take. And I did not feel one bit of guilt and I still don't. Make it so that parking space was not the great find they thought it was. And don't feel guilty.

23. I like to go rent an industrial sandblaster and abrade the shit out of it.
Then light up a few sticks of dynamite and clear out the parking spot entirely, and mail their license plate to 'em at home with an ultimatum.

15. Hell, I'd have run the guy over, smashed into the other car, and been pummeling the driver
when the cops arrived, and I'd have felt any prison sentence was worth it. I applaud your dad's self control.

17. Your dad, of course, has the moral high ground. And the ****ers should be nailed for scratching
 his car.

However, if I were your dad, I would advise him against trying anything against the dudes because they have an ace up their sleeve that your dad tried to run one of them over. THAT'S where your dad ****ed up in this battle.

My fear, if I were your father, would be that if I tried to take the stupid ****ers to court to sue for the damage, they'd take me to court for assault.

Your dad should just let it go, and try to learn to control his anger.

Of course, as a FOX viewer, this will be a difficult path because FOX viewers are basically all super angry idiots.

Of course we are!   :whatever: :mental: :lmao:

If the cops do check the security cameras, they might just see dear old dad assaulting the other person with his car.

No need to push with the car. I have found that peopl....er protesters will get out of my way with the horn on continuously and the tires smoking in a power brake.

I hate when someone does that. That whole "stealing" the spot you've been waiting on. HOWEVER, never is it ok to "nudge" someone out of the way with your freakin car. What did he expect? Was it right for them to scratch up his car? No. But it is what many people resort to. There is almost nothing worse than road rage of any kind. It makes people crazy. And in this situation, both acted stupidly.

Ok, here's the deal.  IF you REALLY had the spot and were 'sitting' on it ...... would YOU have offered to flip a coin for the spot??

Methinks NOT.  This whole story smacks of DUmmies DAD trying to steal a spot and it didn't work out well for him.

That story makes no sense.

I already know what I would have done if someone were trying to run me out of a spot with their car.  And it wouldn't have been a key scratch to the hood.

I had my truck door scratched by a POS station wagon about 3 weeks after my truck was re-painted.  The scratch wasn't bad, it buffed out nicely, but to prevent further damage to either doors from *a*holes, I installed a set of nerf bars that stuck out about 6 inches from the bottom of the doors....

Over the course of the next 10 years, all the paint has been literally beaten off the bars from other drivers, but not one more scratch on the truck...

If Mr. Audi had stolen the spot from me, I would have pulled alongside his car and "powered his nose" with a healthy dose of diesel smoke.  Asses like them get theirs eventually.  Karma can be a bitch sometimes....

This is one of those times that I more or less believe the story - because I have seen this happen, where a passenger becomes a human shield for the purpose of parking.

If his dad did use his car to nudge the passenger out of the way, he is in the wrong, and if there is video evidence, dad will probably be charged with assault.

Well Pikes Peak is 14,111 feet. So I think, that's all they can get out of it as the gulf stream would knock it down after that!

ETA:

Of course that's over at the DUmp.

Over here, however, about as high as the trail a slug leaves on cement.
