Saudi Arabia gives Israel clear skies to attack Iranian nuclear sites

Saudi Arabia has conducted tests to stand down its air defences to enable Israeli jets to make a bombing raid on Iran’s nuclear facilities, The Times can reveal.

In the week that the UN Security Council imposed a new round of sanctions on Tehran, defence sources in the Gulf say that Riyadh has agreed to allow Israel to use a narrow corridor of its airspace in the north of the country to shorten the distance for a bombing run on Iran.

To ensure the Israeli bombers pass unmolested, Riyadh has carried out tests to make certain its own jets are not scrambled and missile defence systems not activated. Once the Israelis are through, the kingdom’s air defences will return to full alert.

“The Saudis have given their permission for the Israelis to pass over and they will look the other way,” said a US defence source in the area. “They have already done tests to make sure their own jets aren’t scrambled and no one gets shot down. This has all been done with the agreement of the [US] State Department.”

Sources in Saudi Arabia say it is common knowledge within defence circles in the kingdom that an arrangement is in place if Israel decides to launch the raid. Despite the tension between the two governments, they share a mutual loathing of the regime in Tehran and a common fear of Iran’s nuclear ambitions. “We all know this. We will let them [the Israelis] through and see nothing,” said one.

Bottom line, the Saudis are more frightened by a nuclear-armed Iran than they are by the feigned outrage should Israel actually do something.

I would be mildly shocked if Israel attacked strategic targets in Iran.  I'm not saying they shouldn't.  In fact I firmly believe Iran needs to be stopped before they are too powerful.

Talk about your cold bedfellows, Tel Aviv and Riyadh. Jerusalem and Mecca. It's Bill and Hillary Clinton. It's Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine (do I really need to write who the woman is here?). It's like the War of the Roses, but with a happy ending, and they both kill Danny DeVito's lawyer Gavin, then maybe don't kill each other.

The US is behind Israel, as is GB.    Israel gets the job done, it will blow over soon enough.    My fear is that they don't have the capacity to do it right. 

That said, the entire ME is weary of the theatrics of Iran, which internally has it's own set of major problems.    The only ones who should be worried about this are the Mullahs.    Their day of reckoning is coming.

If their nuclear capabilities is resultant of crap purchased from China or Russia then there are no worries.    :-)

The real problem is whether Iran's facilities are hardened to survive the against the GBU-28 or not (they received a bunch from the US a few years ago). I would hope Israel uses its Jerhico missiles (they could probably be fitted with kinetic test MIRVs if they want to avoid using nuclear warheads but nukes would be the only way to be sure versus very deep facilities).

Good point.  I am sure the US has supplied Israel with whatever bunker buster technology they would require to "create" their own (i.e. scratch off "made in the U.S." from the missle head   :-)  )

Let's also remember that the Israeli Navy has three Dolphins (really good German-built diesel subs), with nuclear-armed cruise missles, somewhere near there.  Well, at least one on station, 24/7/365.  A heluva strike could be launched from them.  Thing is, probably not all of the cruise missles on board are nukes.  Theree's probably some conventional-warhead shots in there.  It wsouldn't surprise me to see a few of these conventional-warhead models fired.

And it the mad mullahs do try to close the Straits of Hormuz, guess what?  They kill their own cash flow.  Which means that prices of everything go up in Iran.  I'd hazard a guess and say that it wouldn't be long before the mad mullahs were "hanging around" cranes all across the country.

WWIII to me would require Russia and/or China against the US.  Don't see that happening at all if Israel hits Iran.   Russia will yawn, and China will be annoyed.   Nothing more.

That would be by far the best outcome! From what I have read, the educated want nothing to do with 7th century technology. Students want to join with the rest of the world in enjoying what the computer generation is capable of supplying.

Umm...`scuse me?

The VRWC spent $Millions in member dues to ensure those warheads were stamped ACME in the event unexploded ordnance was captured by a mad mullah.

World politics is becoming much too complicated for us normal folk.  We have confusion in our own country's politics to spend time watching  what Asia is doing.

We have one of our States under going the invasion of the people of a foreign nation by enemy's coming across our border and our Federal Government is ignoring the terror of the citizens of our State.  The Governor has begged for help, the local police are scared to death of the fire power they use . Our police admit they need HELP this has become beyond their ability to handle.

The State and local police need help.  The Feds are leaving this State to make their citizens defend themselves.

If the federal government refuses to help then the state should succeed from the union-- or take things into their own hands.  If they wait too long, they Will be just another Mexican holding.  

It is difficult to understand what is going on abroad when the problems here at home are destroying US.  Darn this is crazy.

Then the problem in the Gulf that may in time wipe out a major food source and place the areas in a situation that is unlivable as if a small nuclear bomb would leave the land uninhabitable for generations.  Where is our common sense to get help from any area.?  OH yes the Egos of some refuse to accept help or listen to people who are not experts.

Our founding fathers gave us rights to arm ourselves against a government that  was harming us and or refusing to do their job.

Before we say one word about the rest of the  world we need to clean our own house.  I would love to see a bounty on illegals, wanted dead or alive. Sell raffle tickets to allow the hunting of the fence jumpers, or those that live in the city's, with out papers.  Let the gang members know if they are arrested their parents will be shot on sight.

Harsh and very hard but the only way we managed to settle the West and build a country.  

Those who have turned down help from foreign country's to help with the oil spill should be tried for treason. Those that think BP will pay off all debts are nuts, BP will go bankrupt and the officers of the company will run with the money and we Americans will have to watch as our lives are changed and realise that no Terrorists could ever cause this much chaos for us.
