Stupid Vermont Congressman!
« on: June 09, 2010, 03:22:10 PM »
Dem congressman from Vermont was just on Neil Cavuto wanting BP to cut dividends to stock holders to pay for oil cleanup.

Cavuto kept trying to explain to the dumbass that he was taking money from the pension plans of US citizens in TX, CA, AL, and a couple of other states that had high amounts of money invested in BP.

DUmbass wasn't getting it.

Finally Cavuto told him he needed lessons in economics.

Sure to be on youtube....

I had heard something about that earlier this week. I thought Lord Zero had said something about it.  Don't they realize that the dividends come out of profits?  Profits are what will be left after BP spends money on the clean up.  My guess is that next year or the next couple of years, their dividends may be much less or non existent.

That's what Cavuto was trying to explain to this guy!!

He was also advocating that American people boycott BP.

BP basically told him that was crazy.....he said to the guy..." and what will you do when BP throws in the towel and walks away? Who do you think will be left to clean up the mess? The American People!!!"

The congressman just didn't get it!

I've seen this interviewed before when the HCB mess was going on. The guy has no clue to economics.

It should be mandatory that in order to run for Congress and President, that a certain number of classroom hours and practical experience in economics and business management be required.

We are voting these people in who have no clue....and they have the task of managing a multi-trillion dollar debt and budget.

It's like giving a 5th grader Mommy's black American Express card with absolutely no limit, and turning them loose in Toys R Us, Best Buy and Disney World!

I was busy mopping the floor (with a socialist mop, of course) and had Neil Cavuto on the in the background during this encounter; however, it did catch my attention.  I believe he said at the end of the show that the entire interview would be available - perhaps at Fox Business or Fox itself.

I found it:

After watching this, I must say it scares the living **** out of me that these people make decisions that affect our economy, and most of them follow right along.

Are all Vermont politicians this dense?   I know Pat Leahy is.   Sheeze, what morons these leftist dingleberries are.    They put their tinfoil hats on and spew their socialist talking points bereft of any iota of economic intelligence.

Sheeze, and I thought WE had it bad here in Houston with Sheila "Hurricane" Jackson-Lee.......................oh wait, she's worse.

"classroom hours".... Fook that!

I want a seasoned, successful CEO, CFO or CIO.

Did you not read "practical experience" in my sentence.

That means doing the job in real life.....

I got distracted by the "classroom hours."

I don't care if they graduated 1st grade... as long as they've run a business with a strong P&L, especially if they've done it from scratch, they have my attention.

DU broached the subject of pension funds tied to BP.

Apparently the retirees should have known better then to allow their employers and brokers (and British government) to invest in BP.
According to the Bible, "know" means "yes."

I think they just said on Fox that approximately 30% of BP shares are owned by Americans.

I've only been in a pension fund 2 times in my life..once in the mid-70's with Xerox and then in the mid-90's with Talbots. With Xerox, I had no voice in what was done regarding where the money was invested. With Talbot's, I could only pick "risk factor" - high, medium, low....and determine the percentage to go in each. I didn't get to pick specific companies in which to invest.

Are people...who are not individual investors... able to pick and choose exactly which companies get their pension dollars, now? I thought most pensions were managed by investment companies now days...wasn't that how so many pensions were lost that were under Madoff's control?

I don't think there is a simple quick answer to this one.  Things have changed quite a bit from 70 to 90.  I do know this, there is plenty of free investment advice available and most of it is worth exactly what it costs.
