Who would you choose as a musical act at your wedding?
« on: June 09, 2010, 11:04:10 AM »
Since this has been discussed a bit in the DUmmy threads about Rush/Elton John, I thought I'd make a more lighthearted thread here.

If you could choose any musical group/artist to perform at your nuptials, who would you choose?  Money is no object, just pick someone, or more than one.  And would you "discriminate" against any far leftist?  And if you're already married, just pretend that you're having a re-committment/second wedding.

I would imagine that several of my favorite bands (of the neo-hippie progressive jam band variety) would lean left.  I wouldn't care, I'd have them at my wedding in a heartbeat.

It'd have to be a country singer....

Since she'd get the house, the truck, the dog, etc....

And what do you get when you play a country song backwards?

Well, I have absolutely ZERO plans on getting married again, however, I did always say that if I won the lotto I would rent a big ole warehouse and have ice slide shots, free beer and Cheap Trick.

Well, let's see...

(I'm mormon, so I married my trophy wife in the Temple in Mesa, Arizona lo, these many moons ago.)

When my wife and I were still affianced to one another, at times I would threaten to bribe the temple sealer to do our marriage ordinance in the voice of the priest from The Princess Bride.  Other times - usually when the wedding preparations were getting a little overwhelming, I'd ask her if she wanted to elope, and go hit the temple up in Vegas, and have the 'Elvis impersonator' sealer marry us.

So, musical act for our wedding/reception?  I'd have to say Elvis, or the Elvis impersonator up in Vegas.

On the OTHER side what music do you wish to be played at your funeral?

I want Super Tramp and Pink Floyd, perhaps just instrumentals of the big orchestra  of the Beatles music, with that God awful 1960 song, " I want to be Bobby's Girl"

A biggie would be Glen Yardboro sings Rod Maquen prose, the music of Glen Miller I was raised on and Finally the Doors.

I cant forget Chicago and ELO  ,  darn my funeral would last 2 hours over time.

I chose a band that sang a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan. They also did a lot of blues and some Allman Brothers. It was awesome. So I guess I'd choose Stevie.

And either Stevie would do. Stevie Wonder would be just fine with me also.

Ok, I so forgot one of my most favorites of all time... Van Morrison for sure. EVery song he sings is awesome.
