I always try to separate the art from the artist. If I didn't, I'd be missing out on a lot of good things.

As odd as this may sound--and I readily admit this is 90% aesthetics--I can listen to Rage Against the Machine despite their politics but Green Day irks me beyond tolerance. It's probably because in addition to being lefties they're also a bunch of whining puss-tards.

See I love Green Day and it has nothing to do with politics. Their "Dookie" album came out when I was in high school, and they always take me back to my high school days. And "Dookie" was an awesome album. I don't listen so much to them now, but I always liked the sound of Billie Joe Armstrong's voice.

I honestly don't know why people care. I have friends who have total opposite views than I do. But life is about way more than politics. Politics may affect our lives, but I wouldn't trade my friends for the world. Good people come in all kinds of packages.

In fact, I can't find him on Facebook at all. He seems to have completely blocked me. I'm not even sure which thing I posted on my wall sent him over the edge.

Ditto.  They know I'm set in my views--which just happen to be borne out time and time again.  I don't rub it in, though, chiefly because they expect me to--it's what they would do.  That (not rubbing it in) really can get to them.

To be fair, I know of a few people who's views are like mine for the most part, but whom I would not want to associate with. They are just as wacked out as the DU types. But for the most part, if a person it crazy, he's usually a leftist.

I admit many of my family members are somewhat perplexed at my political views. My brother considers himself an independent, but I don't really know why. He would never vote any way but republican. I have always considered myself left of center. Not far left, but left nonetheless.
