Stay safe...

They haven't issued any warnings for us, but the weather guy last night said they would be "forthcoming"... :whatever:

Weather map looks like Chris is going to get hit pretty soon.... :(

Partly cloudy, Temp 93 feels like 101. Humidity 52 % Wind: From SE at 8mph

It is said that branches draw their life from the vine. Each is separate yet all are one as they share one life giving stem . The Bible tells us we are called to a similar union in life, our lives with the life of God. We are incorporated into him; made sharers in his life. Apart from this union we can do nothing.

Temp 94°F here. Feels like 100°F.

Last night I finally was able to sleep more than an hour at a whack. Was supposed to do some stuff at the VFW, but I decided against it. I just kind of feel like crap, regardless of getting some decent sleep. (comparatively)

Must have been a similar night for a lot of us.

I was up and down most of the night, the cats were restless, we had a power zap about 4 that knocked out the satellite, flickered the lights and stopped one of the heat pumps. Took about 20 minutes for the satellite to straighten out and about 90 before the AC kicked back on. Don't know what happened, but I skipped Mass this morning and M said they didn't have power for the first half, the lights flickered on, went back out, and didn't come back on again until right at the end which was about 8:30. No storms or wind. We are off the same main road the church is on, just 4 or 5 miles past it. There had to either have been an accident or the utility company was having issues. It was the 4th or 5th time we've had it either zap or go out completely in the last 2-3 weeks. Hasn't been happening during storms and no explanations on the news.  :clueless:

You REALLY need to invest in a couple of uninteruptable power supplies with all that going on. If not, you'll be buy new office equipment before long.

With the wind as swirling/aggressive as it is, I'm a tad surprised that none of the three hanging plants, or the wind chimes, on the patio have turned into missiles.

But at least the sun is out.  I do have to wait to true up the other two window boxes, though.  Not enough dirt to put in them.  (Not enough plants, either--I want to put yellow peppers in the other box.  I've got a dozen marigolds to go in.  Maybe I'll put half a dozen marigolds in each, then put the pepper plants in.)  I get paid Tuesday, so I'll be able to get the stuff in then.

BTW, and this is only good for me, the Mets came back from a 5-0 defecit and just went ahead 7-6.  Top of the ninth, and it's raining at CitiField.  Maybe K-Rod will get the save.

Sunny. 96. Feels like 102. Texas summer has arrived.

Came home to spend the weekend with my mom in the country and relax. Sitting on the couch and alternately reading a book, studying medical terminology and skimming over next week's Torah portion since I don't think I'll make it to the Shabbat service.

I've had a pork roast in the crock pot in sauce for several hours, it's cooking nicely. My lemon pound cake is out of the oven and freshly glazed...

I'm headed to the porch to read my book. It's gotten pretty dark out, but as long as it's not thundering, I'll be fine.

Thunder starts and I'm headed for under the covers.  :badmood:

Y'all, have a lovely Sunday afternoon..... :cheersmate:

Last cell passing through.  Wasn't nearly as bad as the one at 2 PM.  That one was nasty--was almost pitch dark then.

Apparently the storms that passed through here are the same system that went through and caused tornadoes in Ohio last night and knocked Fermi Unit 2 offline and tore apart their auxiliary building about 3 this morning.

I remember when I was in High School, we had a day where it turned into night due to a storm. It was pitch black for almost five hours. The street lights were on and it LOOKED like it was 10 PM vs 10 AM.

The sky is darkening up again, though it's sunny to our south (Albany area).  I've hit the Weather Channel future radar, and there's nothing forecast to crop up.  So, we'll see how it goes.

Have you tried toasting a slice of pound cake?  It's delicious.

That sounds really good. I'm putting sugared sliced strawberries and whipped cream on the slices...I could toast them first...

We had heavy rain for about 10 minutes, and then we had "rainbow" rain...sun's out, rainbows are to be found and it's still raining. Then it quit....and the thunder started... :thatsright: Now the sun's out, and it's much cooler.

Going to go make some guacamole. There's no logic to this meal, because we were doing a potluck until the rain got in the way. Too late to do anything now, since it's Sunday night.  :(

Thor...cheated on the glaze. Took some Duncan Hines canned cream cheese frosting, added some lemon juice and lemon zest, put it in the microwave for 12 seconds, stirred it an poured over the top of the slightly warm cake. Oh. My.
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Save the Earth... it's the only planet with chocolate.

We definitely could use some of your storms.

We got about 1.5 inches, all told.  Most of it was between 2 and 4 this afternoon.  Guess I won't have to water my lawn for a couple of weeks.
