this thread is a hoot. if you get a chance go check this one out.
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x8490017it seems a bunch of anarchists up in portland started a coffee house, don't like police, and expelled an officer who was trying to buy a cup of joe.
on the surface, not much of a story. but when that investigative team that is the dummys got on the case? turns out, that "bunch of anarchists" with the coffee house? they are a corporation under oregon law. they have a president and file their taxes and hold meetings and whatnot.
i don't know, and neither do the dummys.
it just struck me as funny.

Red & Black cafe shows Portland officer the door, won't sell him coffee again
http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2010/06/re...
Apparently, this is the kind of thing that makes the national talk circuit these days. For my money, the officer handled himself quite well. He reminded me of Galarraga and Joyce in the perfect game "controversy." The cafe owner appears to have acted within his conscience, and within his rights. As a Portland resident, I share the concerns that many have with the state of our police department, but I'm not of the exclusionary viewpoint of the cafe owner, and I don't agree with his stand. In fact, I've held the door for a cop, more than once lately, at my local coffee shop/bakery. Still, I am guessing that the publicity will garner the cafe a great deal of business in the coming months. All of this rambling nonsense post is meant to say that I really don't understand how this is such a big deal to some.
Any insight into that is welcome.
Cheers!
