WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama insisted Thursday he was "furious" about the US oil disaster but that "yelling" would be pointless, as aides rejected claims he had shown insufficient emotion over the crisis.

The White House also disputed a media narrative that political trauma over America's worst environmental catastrophe would crimp Obama's agenda, even as doubts grew over his pending trip to Asia this month.

But as the White House fired its latest shots in the public relations battle over the spill, new video emerged of helpless sea birds coated in oil, likely to sharpen media anguish.

In a new attempt to demonstrate its engagement, the White House said Obama would make his third trip to the Gulf of Mexico coast on Friday, and he appeared on CNN talk show "Larry King Live" to discuss the catastrophe.

AP is great at sucking up, Yahoo needs to find a more creditable news agencie for it's front lines.

Although I really find it idiotic to blame Obama's and say it's his fault(BP's negliance perhaps), but I do find it ironic.

In defense for Bush, if Bush can get blamed for a hurrican and with a 3 day warning(you can force idiots to leave). Then how exactly does Obama not get blamed for failure for lack of protocol(or allowing a company to be so "negliant")?. So honestly, using "gleefully portrayed" to describe his cirtics is a poor choice of words. It's hypocripsy and Republicans are using it as equal return for the Democrat "gleefully portrayed" Katrinna incident.

The AP's little jabs here and there damges credibilty by showing thier liberal biasism.

Then again I know of NO news agency that isn't bias so.....

oh no the dictator is furious what is he going to do tax us some more or maybe take away some of our rights wait and see you don't want a dictator furious

A real leader would have said:

"There's a problem and we're concerned. Right now all of our appropriate national resources are dedicated to helping BP in their recovery efforts."
