Golden Girl Rue McClanahan has died at the age of 76.

"She passed away at 1 a.m. this morning," her manager, Barbara Lawrence, tells PEOPLE. "She had a massive stroke."

McClanahan, who played man-happy Blanche Devereaux on the still-popular '80s sitcom Golden Girls, had suffered a minor stroke earlier this year while recovering from bypass surgery. Lawrence adds that at the time of her death Thursday, McClanahan “had her family with her. She went in peace." ...

Blanche has gone to the big Rusty Anchor in the sky where it will always be Nickel Beer Night and Spring Break t-shirts will forever be wet.

(And then there was one)

She will be missed....always thought she was a hoot!
Just hand over the chocolate...back away slowly...far away....and you won't get hurt....

Betty White is the last of the Golden Girls.

Dang.  I knew about Bea Arthur, I didn't remember Estelle Getty.

Estelle was the youngest and the first to go. Oh Sophia was my fave.

Rue will be missed. Golden Girls was one of the best sitcoms. I still watch reruns. So sad.

Betty White is kicking pretty hard these days, and I am happy. This must be tough for her to be the last one standing.

Actually, Rue was the youngest by about 11 years.  Estelle was a couple of months older than Bea.  Betty was/is the oldest.

You are correct. I was thinking about her playing the older mom of Dorothy when she was younger. I was wrong about her being the youngest one.
