Greetings All, New Here
   
I'm new to this site and I just wanted to introduce myself. I didn't see a new members forum so I figured it would fall under General.

Up until recently I was a regular member of Dailykos. In looking for a Democratic blog with a different flavor I came across Democratic Underground. DU seems great so far, and I also like that there appears to be quite a few veterans. I'm currently on active duty in the US Army and I'm also a former Marine reservist aka "weekend warrior."

My hobbies: Chess and Numismatics (coin collecting).

My views:

Taxes: For a progressive tax system.

Abortion: Pro-choice

Drugs: For legalizing marijuana across the board. I'm on the fence with hard drugs.

Capital punishment: Against. Mostly because innocent people inevitably get the chair.

Economic systems: For well regulated capitalism.

Health care: I view it as a human right. Nobody should ever be told "F*** you pay me!" when trying to be treated.

The military: For a strong national defense. For interventionism in some cases, but not all.

Welfare: It worked for Joe Samuel the plumber Wurzelbacher, right?

Religion: I'm a Deist. I'm also for a total separation of church and state.

Abstinence Only Education: I think every politician who didn't have sex until marriage should vote for it.

President Obama: Grading on a curve, meaning considering the colossal size of the sh** sandwich he was given, I think he's doing a great job.

Gays: Pro gay rights, plus Will & Grace is hilarious. Myself, I'm straight. I keep reminding people of that but the Army refuses to boot me out.

Did I miss anything?

The DUmmies are eating it up.
