I think it is sad that anyone who was married for that long of a time can't work it out. 40 years is a long marriage. Why not stick it out until the end? I just hate that marriage is usually not forever anymore. I know lots of times it can't be helped, but 40 years together through some tough times, I'd like to see them work it out. Maybe it was too far gone.

I thought the same thing.

After 40 years....to separate....it's either been a sham for a long time and he's decided he's made enough money and wants something younger.

Or she'd decided he's made enough money....of which she will get half....that she doesn't have to stick it out anymore and wants out so that she can go on and do what she wants with the rest of her life.

She is sure to get one bad ass book deal.
About their (in)famous kiss: The only kiss I've ever seen more obviously scripted than the one between Michael Jackson and Lisa Marie Presley.

Doubtful....

There is a lot of money involved. And children and grandchildren.

Chances are....her divorce settlement(if she's getting more than half of all those deeeelicious millions) will be contingent on not mentioning a whole bunch of stuff in a "tell-all book".

She's entitled to at least half - if they get divorced in TN - of everything he's made and acquired the last 40 years. Maybe even more, due to length of marriage, and her age. I'm sure there wasn't a pre-nup....they've been together since high school.

I wonder about the newest mansion. Was it a present to get her to leave?

It's in California. Maybe it's his new place.

She's always struck me as a home, hearth, family person.....the "family" home is here in TN, but she's from Virginia and I don't know how much time they have ever really spent here. Just enough to qualify as a candidate from TN I guess....

He's nothing more than a carpetbagger. obama is more of a Tennessean than Gore is and obama is at zero.

I've only been here since '83, but have always wondered how Gore was elected here. I know very few people who like him, and they are Democrats.... :uhsure:

The usual... campaign as a conservative, govern as a liberal.  Gore used to be relatively conservative when he started in the Senate.  That didn't last long.

The south use to be a democrat stronghold. That flipped in the late 70's, early 80's.

I wonder if Wallace had anything to do with that?
